lost loads of channels since tree awoke, but is it the only cause?
Since the leaves have come out on the big tree our dish peers through, we've
lost a lot of channels, BBC News, Sky One, Channel 4 all just give "no
signal".
Now, the tree caused problems last year but only really in bad weather when
it was windy. Now, even on a still, clear day, we can hardly watch anything!
BBC One just about works but has break up.

The signal meter shows strength at between 60-80% but quality is low, around
the 15-20% mark. I've tried lopping a couple of branches off the tree but I
obviously haven't got the right one and I don't want to go nuts as it's not
ours! Dish can't be re-sited anywhere more suitable really.

Is it likely to just be the tree or does it indicate maybe an LNB or Box
problem? Worth calling Sky?

It's almost certainly the tree. Have it pruned or move the dish.

Try an 80 cm dish with 40mm collar LNB. From time to
time Lidl do an 80cm dish for 12 quid, LNB for 3.99,
and sat finder for under a fiver (if you need one).
They seem to sell quite well to those experiencing
precipitation dropouts, never looked back after I went
to 80cm, no more dropouts in the heaviest of
precipitation.
As you are getting a weak signal a bigger dish
would help a lot, mines on a patio mount,
LNB at knee height, not that I ever need to touch it,
as the extra signal works wonders.

This is the tree and nothing but the tree. There's no point in fitting a
bigger dish because although it will help a bit the problem will not be
solved properly.
