Audio dropping out on SkyHD
Recorded Time Team today, Channel 4 HD. When watching the recording
tonight the audio keeps dropping out. I lose it for 10 - 20 seconds at
a time every few minutes. Anyone else or is my box playing up?

The whole of I'Robot on HD had a screwed up soundtrack, the voice channel
was entirely missing. This was on both the DD broadcast and the downmixed 2
channel track. The 104 broadcast was fine.

Re: Installing new HDD
My apologies up front for an old question - this is a new PC following the
explosive demise of my old one!
Can someone please point me at the URL for the excellent instructions for
fitting a new hard disc drive into the Sky+ box? I used those instructions
about 4 years ago, and now it is about time to do it again....
TIA.

Inevitably, there are minor differences between The different brands and
models of Sky+ box. The Morlocks website does not cover every model, so
have a look at
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=156344 for
additional information.
Also, have a look at http://www.chrisgreen.co.uk/hacking-a-sky-box/.
I don't know whether you have purchased your new hard drive, yet. If
not, I recommend you use a drive that has been designed for CE (Consumer
Electronics) applications, as opposed to a standard PC drives, because
CE drives provide significantly improved performance in a Sky+ box. See
http://www.geocities.com/skypluswss/hdd.htm.
I have installed a Seagate ST3250820ACE in my Thomson V3 receiver - and
it performs perfectly. The Samsung V120CE (HA250JC) HDD is also very
suitable for use in Sky+ receivers - and I believe Hitachi have
introduced, or are about to introduce, a range of CE drives.
As far as I am aware, DABS and Komplett no longer sell the ST3250820ACE.
However, a search today at Google (UK) indicates that you could purchase
this drive for £53.65 (incl VAT & delivery) from Systems Assurance Shops
(http://www.systemsassurance.com/syssystemsRelated.asp?pn=ST3250820ACE).
Xtended Play
(http://www.xtendedplay.co.uk/sky-hard-drive-upgrade-kit-250gb-prodid-5.html)
include this drive in their 250Gb upgrade kit, albeit at a much price
than other retailers. Consequently, it is worth shopping around for
cheaper suppliers.
