A question to ask about L3. In the news article it quotes Richard Brown
and Team. So who does get the L3.
Richard or the whole group?

Good luck anyways, it will be a great flight and I'll wait to see the video.

Eventually. Very long wait and a duff igniter to add to the 'excitement'.

Cracking flight though.

Flight took place yesterday afternoon, apparently was an awesome boost
on the N2000 recovered a couple of miles from launch site. Sky News
were filming, and carried a segment on Sky news last night, showing
the launch.

Another successful L3 from IRW this year, Congrats Richard.

Gizmodo is reporting the flight as a crash:

It deployed its main RocketRage 150 Chute @ 600ft and i believe
landing 300ft up a hill, was dragged around a bit by the RR chute and
picked up some damage.

Spectacular flight, dozens of spectators, police road closures, Uncle Bob in
high-octane protocol mode and Boris Johnson as well. It was like Cape
Canaveral. Marvellous.

I really dont know why they report it as a crash, the Daily Mail
newspaper did too. It didnt crash at all. The RDAS computers worked
fine, the Rouse Tech CD3 systems worked fine (all 6 of them!) and the
lovely Rocket Rage chute came out a treat. The rocket did sustain
some damage as the rocket was dragged along the hillside after
landing, but its all repairable.

A big thank you to John Bonsor, Damian, UKRA and all the support I
received from fellow rocketeers. I will put the full details and the
RDAS flight info on the Rocket Store website tomorrow once I a have
recouped from the long drive home.

Richard, surely you jest. It's because more people would read the
article looking for the blood and guts. If they had said a perfect
flight was accomplished, people would have went, "Ho hum, just another
perfect flight. What's Paris up to?"

Darrell, can you amend the article on RP? I know you're taking the story
from the Mail, but I'd expect RP to get rocketry stories correct.

thanks

Articles imported from mainstream media sources are placed in their
entirety on the site for informational purposes, so that rocketeers can
know what others outside of the hobby are seeing and can formulate a
reasoned response when asked why "that article from ABC said XYZ." I
don't mind correcting small typos, but rewriting someone else's article
to make corrections would defeat the purpose for which they are presented.

Sorry, my request came across as a bit harsh. I think its important that
rocketry is perceived as a safe past-time. Can we have a reader's
comments section or a link to a forum topic?

By the way, I didn't use the article from Gizmodo, because it was
repetitive and the title sucked. ;-)

I dont think Parkin and I with Jackets of power on quite qualify as
"police" but we did get to close the road.

All the folks I stopped were very cooperative and really enjoyed the
flight.

Top work from all involved with bonous points to Michael Caine, Phil
Bratley and Michale Jennings for their very accurate impersonations of
sherpas / mountain goats, scampering off over the hill braving bogs,
midges and othrnasty flying bitey things to retrieve the 'stump.

Top flight Richard :)
