IRW 2007 HPR Flying Site - Photos and Movie.
Mitchell Hamilton, aka "Hammy", one of the SARA stalwarts, has put
together a photo and movie montage to showcase the Failrie Moor Site
that has been used for HPR flying at the IRW since the 2004 event, and
this can be viewed at:-

"SARA HPR Site - Fairlie Moor 1. Hammy's thinking here was that this
"showcase" might be helpful and encouraging to HPR flyers who have not
previously been at the IRW event, but might be considering coming up
this year. Last year we were granted a 10,000 Feet (3,048 Metres) AGL
ceiling at Fairlie Moor by the CAA AUS, up from the 8,500 Feet ceiling
that applied in 2005, and 6,000 Feet in 2004. I have requested a
ceiling of 15,000 Feet (4,572 Metres) for this year. I will post here
and on the UKRA web site as soon as I receive confirmation of this
higher ceiling. If, however, we are not granted it, I expect that we
will at least be allowed the 10,000 Feet (3,048 Metres) AGL ceiling
that we were granted last year. The "centre point" elevation of the
Failrie Moor Site - which over its main area is part level and part
slope (gentle if uneven gradient) - is 820 Feet (250 Metres) ASL. At
Kelburn Castle and Country Centre, IRW 2007 base and HQ, where the
limit is G motors, the permitted ceiling is 2,000 Feet (610 Metres)
AGL, and the elevation there is 65 Feet (20 Metres) ASL. For details
of the Fairlie Moor and Kelburn site locations go to the IRW 2007 web
pages at www.irw.rocketry.org.uk
I hope that these links and the information in this posting is
helpful.
Best wihes to all,
John Bonsor.
