Authenticity of camcorder batteries: How's the test carried out?
This might be slightly OT, but does anyone know what Samsung does to
determine whether it's one of their own OEM batteries that's being
used in their VPHMX10 camcorder - rather than a chinses-sourced
lookalike? When the non-OEM battery is installed, the camcorder
brings-up the message. "Check the authenticity of this battery". The
battery is a three-terminal device - for a simgle 7.4V rail, so I
guess there may be something very simple going on re the third
terminal, but I don't know how the 'intelligence' is gained :-/

HYCH,

Cheers,

Pete.
