Moving the sky box
All

The wife has decided she wants the fireplace removed and the TV moved
to where it was. (Anyone want to buy a pine fireplace with electric
fire and marble hearth?

This is only a couple of metres, but it's two metres more cable than I
currently have from the dish.

Should I completely replace the two feeds from the dish, or can I get
a simple extra two lengths of co-axial cable and connectors to run to
the Sky+ box?

TIA

Extend the two cables using back to back F connectors.

Increasing the length of the cable will probably be fine, I have joins
(and splitters) in mine.

You need 4 F connectors, 2 lengths of Satellite cable (NOT TV coax) and
2 threaded F barrels (female to female)

See someone like satcure for bits, or even a ready made extension

Neither. Get rid of the wife. Since when have woman had any say in
audio visual matters? Harrumph. They'll be wanting the bloody vote

Re: Moving the sky box
Beats the ph*ck outa me why people cut it exactly to length, on
installation.

I left a room's widtha slack on my cable.

Why wouldn't you ?

Indeed.

Only a moron like "John I installed my own Sky dish, Me! Smith", would ever
think of installing his own satellite dish in the first place.

Must have been an old dish and box he picked up for a few quid from
a bloke down the pub.

Do you want to buy a couple of Acro Jacks to hold up the upstairs hearth and
chimney breast?

That can be much more expensive than a bit of rewiring.

Only a retard like "Michael I never jump to wrong conclusions 98% of the
time, me Adams" would ever assume that the Skyguy didn't install my dish.

You see, I used WORDS to SPEAK to the Skyguy, Adams.
It's what we call 'communication' and it's designed to help people
understand one another's needs.

My need was of a room's width of cable slack.
I intimated this to the Skyguy.
He then cut the requested amount of slack in the cable.

Beginning to see how it works ?

Ph*ckwit.

Or maybe a dish that was moved when he moved house. When I did that I bought
a reel of cable and got the whole thing up and running within a few hours of
moving in - something that wouldn't have been possible if I'd relied on Sky
to move it for me. I'm not sure they even offered such a "service" back in
1999 when I did it.

They don't want a say they just like moving things around vases,
lamps, furniture, fireplaces, doors, walls even whole f**king houses.

The one thing that is certain about women is just when you think
you’ve achieved certainty they want to f**king change it.

Personally, I’ve never ever been in the kitchen on two consecutive
occasions and found anything in the same f**king place.

Then there are clothes loads of f**king clothes just to give away swap
or take back never actually wear.

Go shopping with them and you’ll become convinced life, as we know it,
has ceased.

And you have to be interested, yes it looks nice no it looks bloody
horrible and you just know it’s coming back next week.

I tell you the greatest f**king shop in the World bar none, designed
by a genius, is Harrods because someone had the brilliant idea of
putting a pub in there – a haven of civilisation amongst the utter
chaos.

Seriously though....

That 'orrible Sky lead that comes out of the wall is the
problem. B & Q do a nice box and faceplate with a boss
for an F connector to be fixed to the wall. (I'm sure
everybody else does one too.)

If you or somebody else can fit it, then you can get another
precise length of cable to fit from wall to Sky box every time
the TV has to be moved.

(Just seen this done, and it looks a lot better, IMHO)

Since the sky plus was installed separately, the wires come in at
different places

If I didn't have a say, I would have to watch Braveheart and Sharpe
every night. What do you do when you are a woman and your man is a sad
bastard? I know...get a another telly!

That's a favourite trick. A mate of mine has two feeds arriving via
different rooms!
There's no good reason for it apart from sheer idleness on the part of the
fitter.

Serves him right for actually "working from home" rather than slacking off
and watching what the Sky fitter was doing!
