cooling
With so many apparently using computers for tv etc now, there do seem to be
very few good makes who's fans are quiet, especially after a few months
Compaq seem to be good as they actually use the thermostatic control chips
in computers, sadly the joe bloggs type machines are really noisey.

Manufacturers don't seem to worried about noise, particularly for non
"media centre" type PCs. If you want it really quiet, then you're
better off building it yourself. You can make one pretty much silent
for not too much extra money if you want.

Or you could go to extremes. I like this one...

It certainly knocks my puny fanless efforts into a cocked hat! I
wonder if they've sorted out their problem with oil wicking along the
cables and dripping out of the mouse yet.

Cheers,

Colin.
