Wouldn't have been the first time I've been given a similar box and
asked to set it up to get as many freeview channels as their aerials can
receive....

That seems to me to be a perfectly sensible request Glenn,
and they won't be disappointed unless they expect MHEG.

Yes it does.

Should Point out that these boxes are DTT receivers and don't follow the
standard EPG/Channel lineup. Channels are stored in the order they are
found by the receiver. You then have to sort them with the hope of not
having the box rescan and loose channel order again...

Mind you, part of the fault is Silvercrest's for their confusing STB
model numbers. I guess that somebody at Lidl put in that description for
the SL-35-T by analogy -- because the SL-35 satellite receiver can be
correctly described as a Free-to-air receiver that can't receive
"freesat" or subscription channels.

That Lidl know f*ck all about DTT.

So Alan, if it dosn't get Freeview and it dosn't get subscription channels
(Titsup), you tell us what is left?

Same mistake being repeated. Google it and there's plenty of info
including http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=703940

It doesn't do MHEG5 but can get Freeview.

The advert below it might be an indication of what they think it can do.

There appears to be a Comag SL35 which is a Sat receiver,
but this is clearly a SL35T which is DVB-T

Comag should be more careful in differentiating model numbers

No, this is a terrestrial box, it says so on the front.
In any case, none of the satellite boxes that Lidl offer
receive the Freesat EPG

Yes so they so no Freesat or no Freeview as appropiate.

Best left alone.

Isnt it all academic as if you go into aldi to buy one of the silver
crest satellite boxes - they are always sold out .

While you can usually get the full kit box/dish for £65 or whatever you
can never seem to buy just the actual satellite box on its own .

Yes it's probably a generic DTT receiver, as found in Mainland Europe.
Most countries do not use crappy useless MHEG, thankfully.
Most also use sensible DVB bitrates, which makes the picture quality
almost watchable.

No ..you have to wait for LiDL for that one.

If they are to be on sale, then they'll be
available sometime in the next few weeks.

Last I heard, the SL65 - the fully populated
USALs sat box, (and/or the cut down camping
SL65/12 version and at least one other), were
being assembled by Comag-Herons hailing from
their desert oasis base just outside of Timbuctoo,
(aka Great Yarmouth, United Kingdom), from whence
they are exported by banana boat across Europe...

Maplins lately seem to have become Comag's agents;
you can tell by the lesser Maplin 12 month warranty
and the significant hike in price - although the
models are changing rapidly just now..

Perhaps better to look out for a new family of cost
effective Comag-Herons Sat PVRs, as well as satellite
FTA HD boxes etc..

LiDL (with their honoured three years guarantee)
and at around 39.95gbp is historically their
standalone SL65 offer. I wonder what's waiting
in the wings...?!

hh.. ;))
