No Freeview reception on holiday in Devon.
Hi everyone :-)

I was on holiday near Paignton, Devon for the last 11 days in my
Brother's caravan. I was surprised to find that where we stayed
(Whitehill Farm) had zero Freeview reception and very poor analogue
reception, despite only being a couple of miles away from Beacon Hill.
Also there was no mobile phone recption either. Admitedly, there was
a big hill in the way. I was wondering though, if it would be better
to use a Log Periodic on a 12 foot mast instead of the caravan's
Status 530 aerial (which is directional).

Oh, and BTW, we put the awning up for the first time and we had to use
a 'breathing' groundsheet. It pissed down with rain for about 16
hours and the awning got flooded with water coming up through the
groundsheet. I was planning to sleep in the awning on my new
inflatable double bed, but I had to abandon it for the titchy 2 foot
bed in the caravan :-(

Well, I didn't mind, but when you have a ten year old niece with you
hooked on kids programmes and getting withdrawal symptoms, it ain't
pleasant :-(

Actually, I'm not one for going away. My brother, OTOH, lives for his
holidays, and as he is living with just his daughter, I go along with
him. I'm always glad to be back 'ome though :-)

Portable satellite or portable DVD player. OTOH, look for the sort of
campsite my father seems to stay in - fully wired for electricity and TV.
You take your life in your own hands walking around the spiders webs of
cables snaking to each caravan. How Health and Safety don't get involved
I'll never know.
