Rogues gallery
Out of a number of rather 'unusual' to say the least, aerial and satellite
fittings I spotted at a place called Newent which I visited earlier this
week, I snapped this specimen, unfortunately taken through a rather grubby
window so the picture quality ain't that good.

I wonder what it's fixed to. The metal at the base is a swivel clamp or
bracket of some sort, but what it's bolted to is anyone's guess.

Don't bet on that dish giving sterling service for long!

Newent in Gloucestershire by any chance?

I've done my best to blow up the image which I have added to the original
photos, I could well 'be wrong' but as far as I can see there are at least
three bolts which appear to come up through the tiles [arrowed] that seem to
be securing the fixing bracket with wing nuts.

Comparing the two pictures I would definitely say that your right.

I think that there are three fingers which you push up, under the tiles.
Each bolt tightens a finger against the bit above the tiles. The tile is
clamped/sandwiched between. Presumably, it is best to locate this device
where a bunch of the tiles are actually nailed into the battens.

It's a tile & slate clamp. These things are actually OK for zone 1 dishes
but only if the tiles are the large concrete ones and you customise the
bracket a bit. Check out this one here

Is yours fitted the right way up though? That one isn't.
That one also has quite a long mast which is putting a hell of a force on
that lower bracket.
