Just in case anybody really believes that Scotland is a socialist
utopia, local authorities will pay up to a certain maximum amount,
which I believe is currently in the region of £460/wk, and that's
means tested. If you have more than £21k capital (including the value
of your home, unless a spouse is still living there), the most you can
get is £210/wk, and that's only if you need a certain level of care.
Actually, of course, it's all much more complicated, but I believe
that's a reasonable overview. The reason I know is that my parents are
both now in care, in Scotland.
