  Well, since they weren't *BOTH* on channel 17, what channel was the
digital one?

  Was the transmitter of the same power from the same location?

  Was your antenna as good on the digital channel as on the analog
channel?

  I suppose you didn't measure the signal levels coming out of your
feedline for both channels -- almost none of us have equipment to do
that!

  Given the same distance from the transmitter, similar channels
(such as 17/18), appropriat power levels, all such that the receiver
receives comparable signal levels at it's input, the digital will
do better.  If you are not comparing similar signals, you might as
well be arguing that your analog is better than analog from 500 miles
away.
