Telford Tigers 4-3 Guildford Flames (OT)
Saturday 29th September 2007
English Premier League
Telford Ice Rink, St. Quentin Gate, Town Centre, Telford, Shropshire,
TF3 4JQ, England
On Saturday night the Guildford Flames Ice Hockey club made a trip to
Telford and the Tigers took a bite of the Flames previously
unblemished league record using a Claude Dumas hattrick, including the
extra time winner, to hand the Spectrum outfit a 4-3 overtime defeat.
Less than 4 minutes in, the Flames took the lead on a David Savage
strike, but Dumas replied on the powerplay to knot the score at one
each before the midway point of the frame. The combatants exchanged
goals once again with Jozef Kohut finding the twine at 12:35 and Dumas
netting his second while on the powerplay at 15:06. In the middle
session things remained even as the home side scored to take a 3-2
lead with a Joe Miller goal at 31:00 but Rick Plant answered with a
buzzer beater at 39:59 to tie the score before the second break. A
scoreless final period gave each club a single league point. Overtime
would decide the remaining point up for grabs and the home team bagged
it at 62:39 when Dumas completed his 3 goal run to end the match,
sending the Flames home with a loss.
