Rob Lamey stays With the Guildford Flames
Rob Lamey, 27, will be returning to the Guildford Flames Ice Hockey
club for the 2007-2008 campaign. The 5'10", 190lb forward netted 25
goals and 60 points, helping the Flames to last season's Premier Cup
title and a place in the Playoff finals. The former Guildford jr
standout returned to Spectrum last summer after a 4 year hiatus that
saw stops in Swindon, Isle of Wight and Basingstoke following his
first stint at Guildford from 1996 to 2002. In 333 career Flames
games, Lamey sits in the top 20 all time club scorers with 85 goals
and 115 assists for 201 points. In addition to last season's cup win,
his contribution to the Flames silverware haul includes both treble
winning years of 1997-1998 and 2000-2001 as well as a Plate win in
1998-1999.
Prior to his full time jump to the senior ranks, Lamey was a top
British junior product, icing in the world junior championships for
team GB in 1999 and 2000.
Flames Head Coach Paul Dixon commented on the latest roster
confirmation:
"Rob has always been a very talented player in terms of puck handling
skills and offensive instincts, but we were very impressed last season
with the variety of other skills that he had developed during his time
away from the Flames. He has grown into a solid face off man and a
responsible player away from the puck. He also demonstrated a great
attitude in helping to lead his linemates who were often much less
experienced players. In consideration of all that, along with his
offensive totals, we are very pleased that he has decided to remain
with the Flames for the upcoming season."
