Where are they now?
I often wonder what happened to old favourites when they run no more. Simon
Holt was publicising the Moorcroft Racehorse Welfare Centre at Brighton on
Friday.
http://www.mrwc.org.uk/index.htm
He and John Dunlop are supporters of MRWC. On July 7th they are having a
lunch at Brighton to raise money for the centre. Simon will be hosting it
and John Dunlop will be giving a talk on his racing life, the centre and
answering questions. For £30 you get racecourse admission, the lunch and the
talk plus 'Simon Said' as much as you like to drink. In his talk about the
event on Friday I unfortunately did not take notice of his tip for John
Dunlop's Saturday winner Samuel who beat my selection Tranquil Tiger.
I was too late..... a fan of Vindaloo after my wife picked him for his
strong back legs in the paddock before he won his first race a Seller at
Musselburgh at 16/1.It seems that Vindy is now an England star at Horseball!

Looks not a bad game compared to some events I have been to.

Came across National winner Amberleigh House when we visited the National
Stud recently. A gelding at the National stud... must be very frustrating
for him, a bit like being a eunuch in the Harem with only Polo's from
visitors to console him.
Derek.

Re: Where are they now?
Likewise the gelded Danoli is the resident 'pet' at the National Stud in Co
Kildare, shares a field with Vintage Crop (although not sure if the
Melbourne Cup winner is still with us anymore).
Also the resting place for Arkle, whose remains are on show like some T.Rex
they dug up.
Top day out & right next to The Curragh, I try to make it whenever I'm over
there, Celtic Swing, Rakti & resident star stallion Indian Ridge on show to
name a few old favs that weren't unlucky enough to end up on a table in
France.
Cheers ears
Aid.

Re: Where are they now?
I think I read recently that Indian Ridge (Vindaloo's Sire) had passed on.
He certainly no long appears on the Studs list of stallions.
Here they are very happy with Cockney Rebel getting his mares in the club.
He was resting between mares the day we were there while Val Royal was doing
his stuff next door. The surprising sight was Bahamian Bounty confined to a
mesh cage in the middle of his field. Seems that he eats too much so they
were restricting his grazing.
