Thursday Thoughts
YORK
1.40 Taking a chance on CONQUEST the class horse here, now dropped to H`cap
company and minus the Headware.Another long shot is the enigmatic TORNEDOS
that is always promising to take one of these, one day?
2.40 Dante
If he takes part he wins, but,if TWICE OVER is pulled out, which seems likely
,then it is a very open perhaps too open to call imho
4.55 A dodgy 2m 2f marathon with not a strong case to be made for any of
them :-( However I`ll take 2 agaist the field.KAYF ARAMIS won here last
year, has`nt done an awful lot since over Hurdles but maybe being back at
YORK will galvanise him into some sort of run.FLAME CREEK is getting on but
showed he is till capable of a decent run, from the bottom of the H`cap.
Later on,in the evening at HQs
8.00 CAT JUNIOR won his only start and looked the part imho it will be
interesting to see if he has progressed this season
8.30 ESPY can follow up his recent wi at KEMPTON Young Master Buick takes
off a handy 3lb offsetting his 6lb penalty a little.
I hear they are watering overnight at YORK,which can only be a good thing
imho.
be lucky

I would actually go for TARTAN BEARER in opposition to Twice Over. I
fancy Kandahar Run may give Cecil his best chance of another Derby win
anyway but Tartan Bearer is certainly bred for the job being by
Spectrum out of Generous mare and a bruv to Golan. It's a big ask for
him but I don't see he has to step up much more than Twice Over does
based on his run last time and he has more prospect for staying the
distance than Cecil's colt and that is b4 you even start on ground
concerns ;-)

Well thats paid for a lot of RiojaVouchers *GRIN* lol. I was watching
CONQUEST moving into contention(ends up 5th btn a length)when realised
TOURNEDOS
was running on strongly on the outside, and got up to win YES! 33-1winner
deepjoy! seems stupid but I then looked to see if CONQUEST got up for a
place LOL greedy eh?

Good call Dave the colt stayed on well to beat FROZEN FIRE in a
photo.Bearing in mind the 2nd was beaten 10 Lengths by IBN KHALDUN @ Donny
and IK is one of my punts for the Derby :-)) I`m now very hopeful.
TWICE OVER obviously did not stay and perhaps The PRIX DU JOCKEY CLUB over
1m 2f would be a more realistic target imo as he was beaten by two stayers
today.

I honestly can't believe Tartan Bearer went off at SP of 10/1 today.
Thought that was an unreal price tbh. Equally so, him being cut into 7/2
is an over-reaction but can only improve for that and has a similar
profile to the same connections North Light. Im glad I took a decent
price before his win today to add to the portfolio.
I am still amazed though that when Confront was beaten in the Craven
that Twice Over was not aimed at the 2000 Guineas. To me, on breeding he
is likely to be a lot more effective over a mile than 12 furlongs and
IMO he should be aimed at the St James Palace stakes.
I am suprised Kandahar Run's price has not contracted as he will surely
be Cecil's only runner in the Derby this year after that effort and I
think is equally progressive as Tartan Bearer after a decisive win in
the Newmarket Stakes last time.
TB and KR are now my two best wins in the race along with a bet on
Curtain Call and a free bet on Dr Fremantle who I can't see will line up
after TB's win today.
The only other that would interest me would be Casual Conquest if he was
supplemented as he has arguably put up the most impressive trial
performance or one of the other well-bred colts mentioned in my Derby &
Oaks post.
Shaping up nicely.
