Denman
Was at Leopardstown today and have to say wasn't overly impressed with
Denman's victory. In fairness, the horse always looked like winning, but did
it dourly rather than stylishly, and, given the standard of opposition, I
couldn'y say it was a great performance.
Word beforehand indicated that Mossbank could be the one to follow Denman
in, and that horse certainly looked more like justifying Hourigan's former
exalted opinion of him, jumping magnificently and leading to a tidy
forecast. Couldn't think of Mossbank as Gold Cup propisition, but, on
today's showing, must be worth an interest in Ryanair Chase.

Couldn`t agree more, dour stayer seems to be an apt description of Denboy,so
far that is. I do not think Mr Smith will be losing any sleep on behalf of
"Kauto" ;-)

Would have been interesting to see Denman rather than Kauto in the King
George - would Denman have won there, do we think?

Doubt it Ian imho Kautos injection of pace would have seen off any chance
Denman(or any other horse)had...In saying that, although it didn`t show today
Denmans high cruising speed would also put paid to the other runners, seems
to be his forte again imho

Sorry Ian,didn`t read your post correctly :-(
In all honesty? I doubt it,I think Exotic Dancer with his usual waiting game
,would have pounced 2 out and unless Denman has hidden acceleration we
haven`t seen,he would have been beaten..guess its just opinion a the
moment,I cannot wait til march *GRIN*

I loved AP's comment on how disconcerting it is to be going
flat out to throw off that star as it cruises up alongside,
only to hear the other jockey saying "Whoa".
Also educational. I didn't know jocks said "whoa" to slow a
horse. Do they also say "gee up" ?
