RACING UK
Racing UK

Has anybody else found problems in cancelling their subscription?

I was not intending to renew with Racing UK during November 2006, but
because I did not give notice 30 days prior to 3rd November 2006 I had
to let that year subscription stand.

They have just taken a further year subscription from my Barclaycard
5th November 2007 which ignored my previous cancellation instruction.
They have now taken £360 from me over the two years for something that
was supposed to be cancelled at the end of the first year.

They currently quote Racing UK costs £9.99 per month for SKY
subscribers in
England, Scotland and Wales* No Contract

I had a conversation with a most obnoxious Scottish woman in their
office who was not listening to anything that I said and just kept
saying that I had to give 30 day notice. She could not get it in her
head that I had given almost one year of notice directly after the
2006 renewal.

It is impossible to talk to people like this and therefore have made a
claim against Barclaycard for the return of the subscription.

Has anybody else had this problem?

I have made a claim against Barclaycard as it seems impossible to talk
to anybody at Racing UK that is not a complete idiot.

It would appear that they have a high desperation level and are using
every ploy to maximise cash flow from customers that have cancelled
their subscription.

This is not an acceptable standard of operation for an honest and
trustworthy company.

Can I take any further action against this company?

I assume you gave them notice in writing and you have evidence of this?
If you had cancelled via your BC pursue that avenue..
Tip: do verything in writing and retain proof of this.

No reason to bring race into it, I find that goes for women in general ;-)

Unless perhaps they're sub-human, as one or two customer service bods
with whom I've had the misfortune to become embroiled have appeared to
be, especially with wheel clamping firms.
