2008 UKSG gathering
Peeps,
Forest of Arden was proposed as a venue and they have availability for
the weekend of either 20 April or 27 April. Golf on Sunday, stop
Sunday night, then more golf on Monday. Deal is for 2 rounds of
golf, one on each course, the Arden course on the Monday. Cost has
been quoted as £198 for a double and £134 for a single including
golf, d b.
This may change of course when I ring to confirm :-(
In order to book more than 9 rooms I need a reasonable idea of numbers
and how many people want to share etc. Plan is to book for 24
golfers.
Tee times should be nice and convenient from what they tell me, but
until we have things in writing I can't be certain. At the moment we
can have pick off tee times.
It seems a very good price for 36 holes and food etc.
Please could those interested let me know asap and I can then get a
better idea of how many rooms I need to book, if you could let me
know if you want to share that would be most helpful. Seems that a
single is basically £35 extra.
Could you send replies either to the group, or to
billatseddonendodotcom
Looking forward to it.

Just phoned again, and they have changed the prices! Previous quote
was for 2 rounds on the Aylesford course!
Now they are definite at these prices, per person prices, 2 rounds
golf, dinner in private dining area and breakfast and full use of
leisure facilities.
£ 119 for a double, £ 154 for a single.
To get decent tee times we would need to go on Sun 20th April, this
would give us 12.00 - 12.42 on the Aylesford on the Sunday, and 10.00
- 10.42 on the Arden on the Monday.
Phonecall was then cut short as they are having a fire drill! They
will confirm via email. At the moment they have plenty rooms
available on the 20th.
27th was not possible re tee times as there were 2 corporates on the
course on the Monday.

They've yet to get back to me re deposit etc. I'll have to see tomorrow
if the fire is still raging :-) I did let them know the circumstances
re last year, and hopefully we can keep the deposit as low as possible.
As soon as I know I'll let people know.

That's it then - the North is doomed !
Either date is fine with me. I am presuming the double room rate also
applies to twins, and am happy to share.

Hi John
Yep the double applies to Twins as well.
Any one else? Any newbies fancy it? Would be nice to see some new
faces, I was one last year, and look at what that got me :-)

Provided that the prices are as above, you can count me in, to share a
twin. Have roomed with Dave Robinson in the past, willing to do the
same, if he's going to be around. £119 / twin please.

Ok
The games have started now with FOA.
They wanted to change the courses and days around, ie Arden on the
Sunday. I said this is not acceptable.
They can do the Arden on the Monday, first tee time would be 9 am. Is
this ok with people?

It's about as early as I'd wish to start, assuming breakfast is
available from 7am. We usually have to check out before starting the
golf, so any earlier than that makes it a bit of a rush.

I'm in on both dates, accompanied by Sonja again (double room).
Unfortunately, there is still only one golfer in this family, so some
other non-golfing company would be nice...

In contrary, I'm calling for a company for Sonja.
