Re: All Members Are Equal
Well, we have enough difficulty getting ladies to enter comps when they are
competing against ladies off low handicaps. In things like the Club
Championship and individual knock-outs most ladies would not enter as they
would know that they hae absolutely no chance against the men who would be
playing however equivalent the handicaps are said to be. Playing off men's
tees as well certainly at my club, the carries would not be alterable and
also there are differences in the pars of the holes - often ladies par 5s
are par 4s for men. I am pretty sure that a move to play 'equal' golf would
result in a lot of ladies giving up the game as we do not want to have
handicaps in the thirties and forties and still feel intimidated by playing
men off their tees.

That is not the same as men and women playing together out on the course in
a competition which is 'The Club Medal' and in which the women play off
their tees and card and handicaps and the men play off theirs with prizes
for both.

Still don't think most women (or men) would want it though.

Peace & love
Janet
