pop 'em on yer feet all will be well. Anywhere else is asking for trouble.
Also waterproof & comfy. If you want to spend money posing that's fine but
your game will not improve.

You walk a long way in them on a golf course so comfort is important.
I like ecco , but stuburt do some much cheaper and very comfortable
shoes - I have been most impressed with them.
Despite all the hype I dont find footjoys particularly comfortable.

Footjoys work for me so long as I go to the trouble of getting a wide
fitting. Though they are a bit expensive. The plus with them is that
they take no time to wear in. Some of the other shoes I've tried give me
blisters until they soften up a bit through wear. I've never tried Ecco
though.

I have a pair of Eccos and a pair of FootJoys (plus some old ones
for play on very muddy days when I really should stay inside).
The Eccos feel like 'magic' when I put them on; my feet are
wrapped in buttery soft leather. The FootJoys feel as stiff
as they look when I put them on.
But, after walking 18 or 36 holes, my feet are MUCH happier
with the FootJoys.
YMMV, of course.

Adidas always fit me well as 1/2 sizes are available. No breaking in and
seem to last a long time. Just bought another pair last week (£60) The last
pair (Which are still servicable) lasted three years playing 2 - 3 times
weekly, April - October.
Oh and plain black ones take the least amount of looking after, you know it
makes sense.

Brown hide the mud better for winter wear without the need to clean them!!

Indeed but its a while since Adidas have made plain brown jobbies. I used to
have a pair in a brown/oxblood/mostly mud stained colour which were great.

Yes - bought a pair in Scotland recently ;->
(the corporate headquarters of Adidas plus factory outlet being 10 miles
from my home over here)
They are quite stiff yet comfortable. The only complaint is that the soft
spikes (circular ribs) wear pretty fast. I had to replace them after three
months.

<sigh>
My new _white_ Adidas are waterproof while the old black Footjoys aren't...
The best golf shoes I ever had were Footjoy sandals (?Light Joys?), with
Black Widow soft spikes and a good foot anchorage. Just perfect in summer!
Unfortunately, they wore off in only one year and I got no replacement from
the pro shop but only my money back. I suppose that the production was
stopped.

Well I have tried Adidas which I liked and lasted quite well.
Hitec which started well where very comfy then leaked... So not so keen
on them.
Now on footjoy AQL... No Leaks and they feel like slippers (To my feet)
and the same feeling at the end of the round as the start.. These are
good for me but you may not find them so for your feet..

Footjoy Reelfit - blimming expensive, but the MOST comfortable and,
critically, very easily adjustable during a round.

Heartily agree re Footjoys. Have just retired a pair which I have been
wearing for well over five years, and that was only because a spike
anchor ripped out when trying to removes a particularly stubborn
spike....otherwise they have been extremely comfortable, and never let
in one skerrick of moisture! These were dark brown and responded with a
fine sparkle to a bit of elbow polish backed up with good old Nugget!
Have now replaced them with a beautiful brown/white pair of Footjoy
'Comforts', wore them in with just one hole and played the rest of the
round in supreme comfort!

David, during my visit to Melbourne, when we met, I bought a pair of
footjoys. While discussing the shoes with the salesman I enquired
about their resistance to water ingress due to rain, etc. He didn't
understand why I would be concerned about rain on the sandbelt in
Victoria.......
So, with tongue in cheek, I question your comments about water
resistance ;-)
Incidentally, those shoes of mine have suffered the rigours of
Scottish weather and the undulating ground of my golf course and are
only now approaching the end of their useful life. So, yes, I would
recommend Footjoy.

David do you mean "Contours" instead of "Cömforts" ? I ask this because the
latter are ( in Europe ) summer shoes that are not water resistant.

How long ago was that Kev...? I recall the Avalon airshow, wasn't
it....and that is every two years. We had one earlier this year, so I'm
guessing it is possibly six years ago, or is it just four? Hopefully
Colin's memory hasn't collapsed like mine...and he could tell us for sure!
Anyway, given your apparent almost Scots heritage you obviously didn't
pay enough for your shoes....I think I might have paid over $200 (approx
£80) at the time for mine......and definitely no moisture, but then,
there ain't any moisture in Australia any more! Can you remember where
you bought them, possibly 'House of Golf' in the City? I purchased my
beautiful new ones from my Club Pro Shop, $145 (approx £58), discounted
below usual RRP ($195 - £78).

Nah!...definitely 'Comforts', and waterproof, go look at:-

where I note the US 'online' price is considerably less than I paid!

Six and a half. It was 14th February 2001. Seems like yesterday, but
here's the report: http://tinyurl.com/36osd4
Given that I picked up Kev and Gordon from their hotel in the city and
dropped them back again afterwards, the place Kev bought the shoes was
most likely the Kingston Heath or Kingston Links pro-shop.

Good grief...that long!
Kev would be interested to know that Kingston Heath GC is currently
leading contender for the Presidents Cup (2011), others in the mix being
Royal Melbourne GC and Metropolitan GC. My personal mail, and
preference, is for Royal Melbourne GC who hosted the Cup in 1998.
The general feeling is that Kingston Heath members think they've got it,
Metropolitan don't want it, and Royal Melbourne will most likely get it!

Apparently the e-comforts have been upgraded, I also looked them up on the
UK and German footjoy site. However the site you referred to has e-comforts
on it that here in Holland were Aqualites this year, notice that the US site
doesn't have Aqualites. http://www.footjoy.com/default.asp

Footjoy...even better when bought in the States for a lot less than
they cost here! Bought 2 pairs last year and I'll buy more later this
year...felt like I'd had them for years the first time I put them on.
Never had shoes fit like them. Gloves very good too.

I've been using Footjoy Contours for many years, and my feet are happy
feet after walking 18, and occasionally more.
They're pretty water-resistant, too...our course is always damp, and
my feet never are.
They're frequently on sale here stateside...don't know what the
pricing is over your way. Check the web: do a google search on
Footjoy contours, and hopefully you'll find a deal somewhere.
Discontinued models are especially good bargains, as long as you don't
aspire to be a fashion plate.
