HP 2007 - The aftermath
Brilliant event! Well done Demetri (& friends)!

Congratulations to everyone who contributed, especially those who were
victorious in their matches, keeping the trophy "up't North".

Although the course wasn't in particularly good condition(& neither was
I), the weather was superb, plenty of friendly "craic" on & off the course.

After all the Northern banter beforehand, it was a very close contest -
10/9, Mondays individual stableford matches were easily won by the
Southern team.

The Williams Cup winner, Bill Seddon must have had a really good round
on some very difficult greens. Well done sir!

Many thanks to my playing partner on Sunday, Ken Hoyle, for rescuing our
match.
To Simon, who easily beat me on the Monday, well played!

To all my fourball playing partners, Ken, Richard, John Gibb jr, Paul,
Simon & Judy, great company.

Finally I have uploaded some pictures to "t'inernet" they can be seen at

http://www.cig.canon-europe.com/a?i=kICYae1pp7

I think you are able to download them, if you want them that is, they
stay "live" for 30days I think. More will follow as I have around 40
decent snaps to add.

Re: HP 2007 - The aftermath
May I echo Chris's thanks to Demetri (and Malcolm) for another excellent
event. Even the weather was under control.

Occasionally during the year, and especially around the FoA hiatus, one
wonders if the time to join in is really available.
However, the minute you arrive to a warm welcome from everyone you slip into
a routine of chat, beer, food and golf which is so good you wonder how you
could possibly have any doubts.
It was especially pleasing that the event was so tight this year with the
result was in the balance right up to the last game. The sight of people
hanging over the balcony of the clubhouse asking anxiously about the state
of the last two matches on the course as we approached the 18th green showed
just how much tension there was.

To Capt'n Chris who shared with me a hard fought tie on the first day and
our opponents JG Jr and Richard many thanks for a fine day of golf.
To my dinner companion over a couple of bottles of red and my opponent on
the second day, Malcolm, my appreciation for your time and the gracious way
you let me win :)
The legs may be a little shakier but the wit and wisdom are as sharp as
ever.

Congratulations to Bill on a fine win and to "Hickory" for an excellent
runner-up spot, you won the sartorial elegance prize easily.

It was great to have Paul & Monica join us, I hope you got through customs
OK with your goodies.
A welcome also to Angela, whose support of Richard was so effective he did
not lose a game.

And so to next year, where-ever Bill takes us.
When its time to sign up and the doubts start creeping in, don't think, just
join.

Customs was o.k., but weight might have become a problem:
We started with three items well under 20 kg each (2x individual free
luggage + 1 free golf bag) and returned with three well over 20 kg. It was
weird to see each item being marked as "heavy" but we were lucky to get
away free of charge.

Indeed Janet and Chris can be a formidable pair and I am sure your good

Perhaps the presence of more spouses with the southern team could turn the

OOOOPS!! Many apologies Sonja and Paul. I can only put it down to the lack

Indeed Janet and Chris can be a formidable pair and I am sure your good
showing had a lot to do with the presence of Monica.
Perhaps the presence of more spouses with the southern team could turn the
run of results around ;o)
