It would be difficult to sack Curbishley in the summer after the injuries we
had, but I think he may be out the door by Xmas. Not sure that's fair. but I
think it will happen.

Bilic Rumor Gathers A Head Of Steam

There has been plenty of press speculation of late about Croatia manager
Slaven Bilic being lined up to replace Alan Curbishley as manager of West
Ham, but what started as a chinese whisper has gathered momentum to the
point that the club are "unwilling to comment" as to whether there is any
truth to the story.
Club owner Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson is a firm admirer of Bilic and is believed
to favour a move for the ex-Hammer. It seems that the blame for recruiting
players on massive salaries has, rather unfairly, been heaped on Alan
Curbishley. After all it was Eggert Magnusson who 'splashed the cash', many
assumed that his departure from the club after just one year was as a direct
result of his 'loadsamoney' dealings, but it was the incumbent manager who
sanctioned which players to buy.
Incidentally Slaven Bilic is a qualified lawyer and it was he who negotiated
his new deal as manager of Croatia, you can bet your bottom dollar that it
has one hell of a get out clause! - Ed

"Fair" doesn't seem to count for much in football management - or Chelsea
wouldn't have canned a manager who got them to within one win of the title
and one penalty kick of the Champion's League, Spurs wouldn't have dumped
Martin Jol, and Sven wouldn't have been eased out of Citeh for finishing
above us.
Curbs wasn't BG's appointment, either - he was Eggy's, so, really, I think
BG's been very fair to Curbs, judging by the standards applied at other PL
clubs.
Hopefully, it will pay off, and Curbs's crocks will all be fit and raring to
go and will set the league alight next season. If not, and if BG is willing
and able to budget for a manager of his choice to replace Curbs (which
budget, for an ambitious candidate would probably have to include a
commitment to spend significant money to replace the crocks), I doubt he'll
put up with the situation for long.
OTOH, if by some mischance the club has to pay huge sums in compensation to
those whingeing money grabbing tossers from Sheffield, and has to operate on
a shoestring for a while as a consequence, Curbs undoubtedly has the
pedigree for survival on a budget, judging by his Charlton performance.
