Harry
Five men have been arrested in connection with alleged corruption in
football, police have said. Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp and chief
executive Peter Storrie are among those held on suspicion of conspiracy to
defraud and false accounting. Rangers player and Senegalese international
Amdy Faye was also arrested in Glasgow.

Let's just hope this doesn't cause problems for our club!

I don't see how it could, because the alleged offences occurred whilst
Mandaric, Storrie and Harry were, respectively, Chair, Chief Exec and
Manager of Portsmouth FC, and involved a transfer of a player from
Portsmouth, not to West Ham. Hence the West Ham involvement is Nil.

Involvement with a financial scandal is likely to end any hopes Harry may
have had of becoming England manager, even if no charges are made, or
conviction achieved. Ironic, that, since, presumably, the England coach
doesn't get involved in player transfers.

As far as I'm concerned,

As far as I'm concerned, I'm presuming Harry to be innocent until proved
otherwise, beyond reasonable doubt, in a court of law.

Can't help feeling that if everyone here knew that 'arry was a bit iffy,
they'd know at the FA.

Then again, given their track record...

I dunno, there were rumours galore when he was our manager that he was
taking a few "brown envelopes". I must stress that these were rumours, but I
can't help thinking that there is no smoke without fire. I think we all want
him to be innocent, but look at some of the signings he made that we all
maybe had reservavations about. Camara, Song, Charles.........
Just a thought.

I'm not saying I haven't heard the rumours, just that, not having first hand
knowledge of the circumstances myself, I'm not about to leap to any
conclusions that he's guilty of whatever the police arrested him about.
That's what trial procedures are all about, isn't it?

Vito was a 'capo' in Tony Soprano's crime family, who was 'outed' as being
gay. Apparently, homophobia is rife in the Mafia, and Vito was forced to go
on the run. Missing his family and his old life as a capo, he tried to make
his peace with Soprano, claiming his homosexuality had been an aberration
brought on by weight loss medication, but he was ultimately murdered (by
'soldiers' working for and in the presence of, his brother in law, Phil
Leotardo, the leader of a rival crime family, who beat him to death with
billiard cues before inserting one you can guess where) for bringing
disgrace on Phil and his blood relatives by being gay.

WTF is that supposed to do with Harry?

IIRC, Tony Soprano was watching the gangster film "The Public Enemy" (1931)
and the "I'm forever blowing bubbles" that the viewer hears is from the
soundtrack on the film.

That's right! Tony was watching the old 1930s Cagney gangster film, 'Public
Enemy', which used the tune as its theme music. Either that, or he was a
closet West Ham fan ...

Bubbles - the original song
Has anyone ever heard the original recording of "Bubbles" from 1919 (or was
it 1918)? I happen to have it (downloaded off the net).

One of the funniest sequences was in series 6 i think. Some old biddy called Mrs Conte goes
into a rant about mexicans, or maybe peurto ricans- can't remember exactly how it goes
though.

Sadly jeorg, I have something in the region of 15 versions of Bubbles. Not
many people know that it has 2 verses as well as the famous chorus that we
all sing at games. The earliest I have is by Charles Elliot hart which is
from 1919. I also have a version by Vera Lynn from 1921, Doris Day from
1953, Frank Fontaine from 1963 and Dean Martin from I think 1973. It seems
to have been a popular waltz and many people in the 20's and 30's recorded
it. My favourite version that I have is a barbershop quartet version. I have
edited this down and it has been my ringtone for ages. If the email address
above is correct, I can mail any of these over to you. Alternatively, if you
will be at either of the Everton games I can stick them on a CD for you.
BTW, Our 3 month old kittens name happens to be Bubbles!

Jaan Kenbrovin - Imp Forever Blowing Bubbles Lyrics

I'm dreaming dreams,
I'm scheming schemes, I'm building castles high.
They're born anew, their days are few,
Just like a sweet butterfly.
And as the daylight is dawning,
They come again in the morning!

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high,
Nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams
They fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.
When shadows creep,
When I'm asleep,
To lands of hope I stray!

Then at daybreak,
When I awake,
My bluebird flutters away..
"Happiness, you seem so near me,
Happiness, come forth and cheer me!"

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air,
They fly so high,
Nearly reach the sky,
Then like my dreams
They fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
I've looked everywhere,
I'm forever blowing bubbles,
Pretty bubbles in the air.

Yes Jane, remember that well. Unfortunately, it's too racist and offensive
for this ng.
By the way, Jane, are you related to 'Dangermouse'?
