Looking on the bright side . . .
. . . at least Robert Green should get his chance now!

And he has not been injured on England duty.
Seriously, England deserved to lose tonight and it all stemmed from
McLaren's choice of goalkeeper. If Green had been chosen I think England
would now be going to Europe.
I only hope that the FA keep their hands off Curbs.
I would like to see Martin O'Neill as England manager.

Re: Looking on the bright side . . .
Not sure about Bowyer (and he's not even fit right now) but I agree Rob
Green deserved his chance... he should have played in the friendly in
Austria. I'm with Howard Neil, by the way: Martin O'Neill has been my choice
for England manager for a while. He's not afraid to ruffle feathers and put
under-performers (like Frank Lampard jr.) on the bench.
Fact is - England didn't deserve anything out of the game because they were
utter crap. Oh, well... I have to think of a few good comebacks when my
German and Italian colleagues confront me later. Brillliant. Normally I tell
them we at West Ham have a solid hooligan element so they better stop
gloating (or I tell them to get lost directly).
Bollocks!

No need to rush to choose a replacement manager, IMO, since it's a while
before WC qualification. IMO, the England manager should be English,
experienced, and with a good track record of getting the best out of the
players available to him. Pity Harry Redknapp has ruled himself out :-)

Yes - in a bizarre sort of way, he had the best game of anyone last night.

Yes, and I think people like Carragher, Upson and Shorey might have given
the defence a more solid look, too, and the absence of either Gerard or
Lampard from midfield, and playing Defoe from the start in a 4-4-2 formation
might have made more sense.
Still, there's a possibility of a revived 'home international' championship
next summer, jolly good, what?
