Henri Camara and Nolberto Solano
Hm... both high quality players with a pedigree. Not the really big guns I
was hoping for but better than nothing. The big question is: Will they last
longer than Kieron Dyer?

I get the feeling that Bjorgolfur Gudmundsson is tightening his belt and
hoping we finish this season higher than we did the last one.

Well, they both provide depth of cover for injuries, and hopefully the
management knows what it is doing. Signing huge 'name' players is no
guarantee of success, as we all know from last year's experience.
Talking of last season, the 6-0 to Reading was one of the worst moments of
my several decade's worth of supporting West Ham. Hopefully, there shall be
no humiliating surrender again today. If there is, I don't think Eggie will
put up with it.

If it helps get over last year's score, just think back "a few" decades
to when we beat Arsenal 6-0 (and Wolves 5-0 in the same season). Mind
you, a bit of revenge today would not go amiss.

I can (just about) remember standing on the terraces when we beat Sunderland
8-0, with six for Sir Geoff. Happy days.
But yesterday was a very happy day, too, that emphatic win going a long way
towards making up for last season's humiliation - like chalk and cheese - a
good performance (I won't carp about the missed chances!).

I missed that Sunderland game. I remember the Arsenal tonking well,
though. A friend at school had said he didn't know who to support; West
Ham or Arsenal. I told him they were playing each other the following
Saturday and suggested that he watched the game and then support the
winner. I presume that he is still a Hammers fan. :-)
Yes, yesterday was great. I realise that Reading made them look good but
it was still a classy display. I watched the match on Sky a couple of
times over and was very impressed with a lot of the link-up play. They
looked like the complete team and the new signings must be concerned
about getting a game.
