'(oo)'s views' V Chelsea 08.12.2007
Good Evening everyone.

Welcome to my riveting view on today's game v Chelsea. Thanks to Mr. Morse
for winning the competition to select the title, '(oo)'s views', tremendous
that, no prize tho, before yer ask fook off. Hopefully loads of people read
it *about 6* and get so excited about it, that I get a new career in
journalism with the Sunday Sport and get to shag some dodgy birds!? Eyan
would like to request your feedback, agreeable or not! Anyway.

Thank god for dodgy pubs showing these games on a Saturday otherwise this
'(oo)'s views' would not have been possible. Was at work till 6 this morning
and have only had 5 hours kip. That combined with a few beers and that, well
let's say it might impair my judgment? Isn't it just great, you get to the
boozer early and find the best seat, then some daft coont rolls in at 3 and
stands in front so you cant see the telly. My response, well I'm 6ft 3 so I
go and stand in front of the inconsiderate twat!

Here we go then, Chelsea are a very good side and was not expecting very
much today other than a 3-0 ish defeat. Considering it was only 2-0 and we
were playing 14 men it was a miracle. There is lots said about ref's,
today's ref was a twat......

WARD. Maybe he should take up boxing? Then again! Why punch it when you can
catch the fooker? Can't remember him making a save today, a few daft punches
and one silly challenge on Wright-Phillips *cheating coont*. 6

HALFORD. Said before,he is not a right back maybe his best position is the
back scuttle.......Shite get rid. 3

HIGGINARSE. Playing against class players, maybe would not be playing if we
had a fully fit squad. Try him at right back? Can't be much worse than the
present owner ov the shirt. Gave away a needless penalty, having said that
had we been playing Derby today with the same ref and the same incident
there would have been no penalty. 5

Mc SHANE. Excellent game today, needs to be more consistent, also needs a
bottle ov bleach and a set of Wahl's.8

MILLER. Not a bad game, Liam son if you gonna get sent off give him it big
style. Can't believe the ref missed the assault on his knee.6

COLLINS. Big boot every time he got the ball. Hardly noticed he was playing
5

LEADBETTER. An improvement on last weeks performance, a few wayward shots
not going to criticize him for that tho. Dint shoot dint score 5

WHITEHEAD. Again improvement on last week, got stuck in, 100% effort. 7

ETUHU. Tremendous today, great tackles and actually passed to our players.8

WALLACE. I think he is one ov a few players who have got the ability in the
prem. Few daft shots and some great touches, needs quality around him. 5

JONES. I love Kenwyn, so he's gettin 10

THE FANS. Best in the world 10.

At 1-0 we were worth a point. Fook off ref

I agree- I honestly felt we could get a point in the second half, but of
course we only had Jones up front so pulling back level was always going to
be tough. It's a catch 22 situation playing top teams away- play it safe and
you might just snatch a point, but if those tactics backfire and you go a
goal down, do you bung on another forward at the expense of midfield and
chase an equaliser while risking a hammering, or do damage limitation to
keep the score down? It's a tough one alright.

Any idea why Jones was subbed? I was taken aback by that. He's the only
remotely gifted striker on our books right now- something we *must* change
in January. As well as a couple of wingers, a back four, a goalie...

Keane said he was "lazy". Can't fault Jones, though. Why
run your arse off against one of the best back fours in the
world when no-one is giving you any service or support?

Views are pretty much OK.
There is a massive lack of quality in the whole squad. That's the
problem. The players we have are generally performing at their optimum
level. The vast majority are just no good in the Prem.

That is the fault of Keane - 100% - he has failed to invest in quality
and unfortuntely we are prime relegation candidates. I mean, can you
see the present squad produce a win against Liverpool or Arsenal or
Man Utd as did other relegation contenders Reading, Boro and Bolton? I
hate to say it but their squads seem to have more quality and are
consequently a lot more confident and capable of turning in a few
decent performances.

I shall keep the faith but I am in two minds whether Keane should be
given more money in January to spend as he likes (any comments from
the rest of ya on this?). If he buys more of the same then we will
definitely be relegated. He would be sacked, correctly so, leaving us
with a massive debt and a shit squad that we can't off-load.

Not Keane's fault he cant get the players he wants. I think we will be okay
then improve year on year. It would be nice to see a superstar sign in
January, even if it is only till the end of the season..... Even better tell
Roy to put his shirt on.

Sacking Keane is stupid I'm afraid

I agree sacking him would be stupid. He has certainly raised the profile of
the club for one thing! However, his transfer activity has been, apart from
Kenwyne Jones, McCarthy-esque I'm afraid.

Fans and pundits alike were cringing at his signings in the close season,
and it turns out with some justification. It's an old but very true adage
most of the time, sign Championship players and that's where you'll end up.
We're now back in the bottom three and Boro have just beaten Arsenal. Spurs
were never going to be relegation contenders, and Bolton are pulling away
now.

Birmingham have a shrewd manager and it could be argued a better squad than
us. Wigan have Premiership experience and although they've had a rotten
season so far (against us excepted, surprise surprise), they could improve
at any time.

We look like we're playing flat out most games, where is our improvement
going to come from? Yes, the transfer window is just a few weeks away, but
if Keane allegedly couldn't attract players in the close season with a clean
slate, why would he be able to attract them when we've just recently been
tonked by Everton 7-1 and are lying third bottom without an away win all
season?

The argument that these are the only players he could attract has to be a
red herring. I'm convinced there must be a good few players in the Prem who
aren't getting into the first team and would have jumped at the chance to
prove themselves at Sunderland, and actually get a game week, in week out.
By definition, a fringe Prem player surely has to be a better option than a
Championship player, at least most of the time?

Worryingly, Quinny is reputed to have been taken aback at the wage demands
made by our Prem targets. If this is true, then we are in trouble. If you
want Prem players you pay Prem wages. If we can't then I'm afraid the old
cycle of division hopping is going to be with us indefinitely.

Another thing- Keane has known for long enough that we are short in
midfield, with Carlos' injury keeping him out most of the season. Where is
his loan replacement? This is either negligence on Keane's part, or penny
pinching by the board. Either way it's worrying. Same goes for the right
back position. AIUI we can have two loan signings from the Premiership at
the same time, and the fact we haven't brought in some Prem experience in
could well mean we go down.

Keane has some work to do next month, we can still stay up, but only if he
brings in some real Premiership players. If Boro can attract decent players,
then we should be able to as well.
