I have to say, I feel sorry for all involved... the sculpter must feel 
really down, and its tough to have a go at the people who spent time and 
money putting it together. But I just don't see how you can get this far 
to the point of having unveiled it and then decide to take it down.

Surely someone saw a scale model before the dude started casting in 
bronze? Surely someone said "that doesn't look like Ted Bates, it looks 
like the bloke with half length legs on King of the Hill".

I have to say, I feel sorry for all involved... the sculpter must feel 
really down, and its tough to have a go at the people who spent time and 
money putting it together. But I just don't see how you can get this far 
to the point of having unveiled it and then decide to take it down.

Surely someone saw a scale model before the dude started casting in 
bronze? Surely someone said "that doesn't look like Ted Bates, it looks 
like the bloke with half length legs on King of the Hill".
