Farsical
Last week we had Haining being dismissed and Celtic awarded a penalty, this
week we have this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Syrxv9VslQ

Shocking, and makes our referees a laughing stock. in my view if United been
awarded the penalty, they would have went on to win, they were better today.
Celtic have been given 3 points out of two games they just do not deserve.

As much a claim as the one Naka had against them last season when he was
booked. Caldwell obviously pulled his right foot back to avoid tripping
the player and he decided to fall over. You really think if a player was
brought down in the box he would have reacted the way O'Donovan did?

You are joking right?
That was a stone wall penalty, no one decided to fall over, the momentum of
Caldwell sliding in and his left leg contacting brought him down.
The lad was totally bewildered he did not get the penalty...as is the rest
of Scotland.

You'll have to watch it again as it was his right leg which the player
'tripped' over. What about the couple of 'handballs' against Caldwell?
Were those penalties as well?

Rest if scotland ? I would have thought it would have only been Dundee Utd
fans bothered,oh aye and of course Rangers fans.Very strange though when
Celtic are denied a stonewall one we never see the same people posting about
it.

I am new here and havent seen Celtic being denied anything yet, however last
season they seemed to get their fair share of decisions.
The teams who seemed to get the majority last season were Hibs and Aberdeen.

Welcome to the newsgroup, where black is white, right is wrong and celtic,
their fans, players and club are always in the right. You'll need a sense of
the absurd here.

Believe it or not the referee might have had a initial higher definintion
view of it than youtube without the benefit of the youtube replay facility.

I initially thought it was a dive but on replay from several angles agree
it was a penalty though there WAS an element of theatrics during and after
the foul.

Maybe its my green tinted specs but i still believe it was more of a dive
than a foul. IMO Caldwell tried to pull his right foot back to prevent
tripping the player and it wasn't the contact which caused the player to
go down.

You're half right, the referee got it wrong by not booking the Utd player.

I would contend that you have it wrong on both counts. From the byline shot
at the goal, contact is clearly seen and the Dundee United players sense of
aggrievement was justified.

The Arab player asked to get the wrong decision by emphasising the foul,
(and it was a foul). After watching the replay, nobody can deny he dived.
That actually happens quite a lot in football, where the fouled player
'acts' himself out of the decision.

It doesn't happen a lot but i agree with you Angof. It was a penalty
right up til Caldwell pulled his right foot back and the player decided
to go down then. If he had gone down when the initial challenge was made,
without emphasis, then it would have been a stick on penalty.

Some players just aren't quick enough to win things like this.

He clearly dived Oso, you need to get a new prescription for those failing
eyes of yours ;-)

I would concede that the grappling by JVOH in the first half was much more a
penalty but unfortunately, referees never have had any consistency in how
they deal with the shenanigans at set pieces.

You stuck up for Buffel because you were having a go at Rangers. You've
never stuck up for any player against your club.
And pointing out that you got lucky breaks? Wow, now *there's* withering
criticism of your club.

I take it all back, JB - truly you have the impartiality of a supreme court
judge.

lmao...you still think that.So you were sticking up for Balde just so you
could have a go at Celtic right? So Rangers players are nothing to do with
the club, thats real class. And i think you will find i have stuck up for
opposing players at certain times,a couple of times i believe it was Hartson
went in heavy and i said i felt he was in the wrong and deserved more than
he got in terms of cards, and he is not the only player.Problem is you made a
very stupid comment about me being blinkered and now you are doing anything
to try to make it stick instead of apologising. But sadly im not as blinkered
as you would like to believe.

> And pointing out that you got lucky breaks? Wow, now *there's* withering

Theres a pattern here, firstly i stand up for an opposition player, and thats
seen as attacking rangers. Now i agree we were lucky and didnt really deserve
the draw and you no doubt see that as blinkered? Yet if i had said stuff it
we deserved a win would you have jumped out saying wow now your blinkered?
So as shown it doesnt matter what is said or typed it is infact you thats
blinkered as you make a decision on someone and stick to it no matter how
wrong you are.

> I take it all back, JB - truly you have the impartiality of a supreme
> court judge.

Finally a bit of sense from you.Took long enough but glad you admitted it.

He should have booked the player for diving/simulation then, no?

I think that would be harsh, I don't think he was trying to cheat. He was
fouled and just wanted the referee to see it. Foolish but understandable.
