"Police said the trouble has been very minor and only involved a handful of
people."

A handful of people out of 100,000 - you can stop wetting yourself now.

Can't find your quote on that BBC link but found this quote from your link.
"A Russian fan was taken to hospital after being stabbed outside the City of
Manchester Stadium before the game. The man was stabbed in the back but his
injuries were reported as non-life threatening. Greater Manchester Police
(GMP) said six men, all believed to be Rangers fans, had been arrested in
connection with the incident. "

They've rewritten the piece since I posted the link. The new piece has this
quote:
A force spokesman said 30 people had been arrested in total.

He added: "GMP would like to stress that the vast majority of supporters
have behaved impeccably and came to Manchester clearly intent on enjoying
the carnival atmosphere."

30 people arrested is 30 too many. It means, though, that of the 200,00 who
were in Manchester, according to the police, 197,970 weren't arrested.

Well not sure about the 200,000 but you are right it is a small proportion.
And I sympathise that the screen never worked and you'd get some numpties
that maybe would've been filtered out by a trip to the continent (ie
Seville). But trouble/rioting fans is not a good look. Also iirc David Edgar
was suggesting that Celtic Park should be closed down since a guy threw a
coin in Celtic Park. Which I think you were sympathetic too. Wonder what
Edgar will be asking for if the guy that got stabbed outside the ground was
done in by a hun? I would imagine that Dave would be like the proverbial
snow aff a dyke...

I guess a previous incident was Arsenal vs Galatasaray in 2000 in the Uefa
Cup final when three people got stabbed (UK, TU & DK) but not sure if
anything happened as a consequence to either club. Leeds vs Galatasaray in
the semi two people got murdered (UK) and Galatasaray seem to have been
prevented from travelling to Leeds.

For a change i agree with FS , one person out of order is one to many and
that goes for any team.Dont care if its someone throwing a coin in the
ground or people throwing bottles at the police its still out of
order.Usually the vast majority of teams travelling are well behaved and
there for the football , but like as they told you many moons back at
school,if you wear your uniform your an ambassador so the minority can tar
the good ones sadly.I can understand people being frustrated at a screen
going down but most would just stand up saying "oh for fucks sake" before
wandering off pissed off , just cant see the point in throwing stuff at
police because of it.Just the same as i cant understand pricks throwing
coins at people on the playing field.

I raise to 150,000.
