Racist Chants.
After hearing Amdy Faye subjected to a swift chorus of "You Black Bastard,
You Black Bastard!" after he was assaulted by Vennegoor of Hesselink at
Celtic Park last week; Today a rousing chorus of "There's only one Eddie
Murphy!" as Darcheville made his way onto the pitch.

I thought this particular type of bile had disappeared from the game back in
the 80s.

Is it maybe the fact that Rangers are on the verge of having the most
successful season ever in Scottish football that brings out this new low
level of hatred and knuckle-dragging among those who despise the red white
and blue?

Discuss.

Missed seeing the game that day (thanks to setanta fucking up in my
area, bastards!) so only listened to it on the radio.I didnt hear the "Black
bastard" chants but if it was true its fucking disgraceful. No excuses or
anything, theres no need for racism in the game. The Eddie Murphy thing i have
no idea on,youll have to ask a hibee.Could be innocent enough.Thats the
problem with racism that just because eddie murphy is black doesnt stand out
as clear cut racism. If they were making monkey noises etc then it would be
more clear cut.Not excusing it IF it was racist, just think you cant cry wolf
at everything otherwise it ends up being like the BJK campaign . Racism
shouldnt be trivialised so i hope if there was something going on it would
get jumped on straight away.

Biz mate, you were doing well until the last bit.Its got fuck all to do with
anyone winning the league,be it celtic or rangers.Racism is racism be it the
start, middle or end of the season. As many have said theres enough idiots on
BOTH sides of the divide.By doing the "Its because they hate rangers" thing
just turns it from a legit argument to a point scoring.

First I've heard of the bb chants at Amdy Faye. Where did you hear this?

Fair enough, the Eddie Murphy thing is a bit of a long shot, and I suppose
you cant really cry racism just because there are chants likening one black
fellow to another black fellow - It wouldn't be anti-white racism if they
were singing "There's only one Joseph Merrick!" at the sight of Kirk
Broadfoot emerging ... ;-)

It just seems that as we approach the end of the season, there are more and
more vitriolic rants about Rangers and Rangers fans about racism, white
supremacy, murders, fan behaviour, anti-football, this that and the next
thing that anyone can come up with to have a go.
I've noticed it at work too, most folk are Killie fans and just outright
dislike the Old Firm teams, but lately I'm hearing more and more "I fuckin
HATE the Rangers / Hope they get humped / etc."

Like I said, racism involving singling out individual players for the colour
of their skin had disappeared from the modern game - on this island anyway.
I just genuinely wondered if the utter annoyance of Rangers' success this
season was making people 'devolve' through hatred.

As you said - racism is racism - so whoever is guilty *IS* a racist, but
they've kept it in check for years, just wondered why it was starting to
raise its head again.

On my TV. I had the added benefit of watching it alone in a quiet living
room at midnight on sky plus as opposed to a noisy bar or anywhere.

I was drop-jaw shocked when I first heard it, and rewound it to confirm what
I had heard, but its quite clear. I actually thought it would have been
picked up on in the papers or even on here, but it wasnae.

Being totally honest i have seen an element on both sides rearing their
heads again.Maybe it is the run in and because its so close. But being honest
when a teams doing well and they are enjoying it then alot of folk are going
to want to see them fall.Similar happened when we made it to the final, apart
from the odd one or two there were alot of "Hope they get humped" type
posts.Its just football!

True enough,i hadnt heard or read in the press about the chants so still a
bit in the dark about it (maybe NOT the best phrase to use in this thread
but you know what i mean) and am surprised as something as direct and racist
as that i would have thought the press would have jumped on.Im hoping its
not true, not just because its celtic fans but more because what you say
about it should be left in the 80's which i whole heartedly agree with.

Would be good if you could put that on YouTube Biz. For me, all racism is
disgusting, irrespective of the perpetrators.

I agree that we should discuss racism, irrespective of whether Rangers have
chucked the league away or not.... ;)

Liam made an excellent point. You should put it on youtube, all racism
should be exposed.

Surprised we haven't heard anything about it before, certainly nothing like
that where I was sitting. I don't suppose you could tell which part of the
ground it came from through the tele though.

You know the racist song Rangers supporters were singing again today about
the famine being over and how they (presuming that means people descended of
Ireland) should now all go home? Does that include everyone descended from
Ireland or just post-famine? And seeing how the potato famine was Europe
wide and the highlands of Scotland were also severely hit, should all the
teuchters be sent back to the hills?

Disgust.

"Why don't you go home" it's something you would expect from the BNP and is
certianly seems like Rangers fans favourite song at the moment. But good on
The Herald for pointing this out. Hopefully we can lance the boil of
anti-Irish racism in Scotland.

I'm not sure if sending all Irish descendents back home is BNP policy, I get
the feeling the BNP are more left wing than the average Rangers fan.

I suppose the BNP have to put a public face on where they don't cause too
much offense. I'm no expert but the BNP probably dress their voluntary
repatriation arguments up as economic necessity when it's just racism. Here
is a good link on stopping the BNP.

http://www.stopthebnp.org.uk/

Let's hope all thinking Rangers and Celtic fans can add their name to the
cause of stopping racism. And stopping the BNP.

It's "You're just a fat Eddie Murphy".

In some peoples opinion, he looks like a fatter version of Eddie
Murphy. Nothing more sinister than that.

Who knows? maybe it's just aimed at the plastic paddys who have little or no
love for this country and live in a fantasy world of conspiracy and
discimination and who prefer to cloak themselves in irish flags and symbols
rather than identifying with their own country. Maybe it's aimed at those
who would prefer to see Eire win than Scotland.

Yep. My mate told me it was "You're just a fat Eddie Murphy" and he was at
the game. Obviously the Hibs fans have picked up on it as well as they were
singing it on Sunday.

The good old "two wrongs make a right" argument.
Deny, deflect.

And no I *don't* know the song. I cannot get to matches at Ibrox through
work commitments, so I don't know what pish is currently being sung.
Why don't you, as a Celtic fan, enlighten us as to what you 'heard'.

I don't see the likeness at all to be honest, but I'll take your word of

After all, the crowds chant to all players about their supposed
doppelgangers. Its not as if they are singling one player out because he is
black ... oh wait...

I'm making nothing up. If I'm mistaken then I'll hold my hands up - but like
I said before, I didn't watch the game in a noisy pub, I watched it on Sky
plus in an empty living room at midnight, I had a clearer aural
representation of crowd noise than most.
If anyone still has the game on sky or on dvd or whatever, please have a
listen - I'm sure its bang on 59 minutes where Amdy Faye is leaving the
field due to being kicked in the gut.
Have a listen and Then call me a liar hoopy, not just because you dont like
the sound of what I'm saying.

I thought you were better than that biz but obviously not. I refer you to
the post I made previous to this one on this thread where I fully agree that
if (obviously it would be good to have proof) what you heard was actually
sung, it should be exposed and those Celtic supporters should be banned from
the stadiums. I was at that game and never heard anything remotely like it.
I think you should take your tape to the Daily Record and help expose the
racists that you so clearly heard.

The lyrics to the song that the whole rangers end were singing at Celtic
park and were clearly heard loudly against Hibs is simply "Why don't you go
home, Why don't you go home, the famine is over, Why don't you go home"
Pathetic eh?

I don't know how the racist mind works but maybe you're right fishy.

Should they also send my relatives that live in Australia, Canada, America
and England all back home to Scotland because they wear kilts and tartan and
occasionally attend Burns nights and St Andrews dances? Some of them even
attend ceilidhs and no doubt join in a rousing chorus of 'Flower of
Scotland'.

You see, I've never thought of my relatives and their descendents as plastic
Scots and from what I've heard at least from the American relatives is that
other non-Scottish Americans also like to join in with their dances and
celebrations.

One Scotland, many cultures. (It should be the target of all decent Scots
and hopefully the racists influence will dwindle away)

Better than what exactly?
Because I dont know which song you referred to? Because I take issue with
the fact that upon raising the issue of racist chants, you fall over
yourself to turn it into a "Youse did it too, so you cannae say anything!"
tit-for-tat point scoring excercise?

Some of the decent Celtic fans have come out and condemned-if-true. Only a
lowlife would use the argument which you employ.

Your post makes NO reference to the original content, you simply quote what
I've said and then bang on about a song being sung at Ibrox?? Classy, real
classy..

I did and can assure you at the time you state, Faye is leaving the field
and the camera cuts to Mick McCarthy then the Celtic fans sing... see

well like I said too - if I'm wrong then I'll hold my hands up and admit it.
I no longer have the game on sky plus, but since you seem to have the game,
would you do us a favour and maybe upload the scene in question somewhere so
people can at least form an opinion?

Eh...No!
You made the accusation and said you had the proof. If you wanted to prove
it you should have done the uploading yourself. I don't have the time or the
inclination.

Non attempt at conversation noted. Just the obligatory "Where's yer

That's all well and fine. I heard what I heard, not what suited me. If I'm
*proven* to be mistaken then I've said I'll apologise... several times now.

I never once said I "had proof". I said I heard it with my own lugs, coming
from my own tellybox.
I've reported what I'm pretty sure I heard, if you want to call me a liar
and defend the racists, *you* go on and provgide the evidence to the
contrary.

Oh you don't have the "inclination" to prove the racist chanting didn't come
from your fellow Celtic fans? Fair enough.

Bottled it weeman, you had the chance to prove Biz had heard wrong and
chucked it right oot the windae at the first asking. Either that or you dont
know what you are talking about and are just bull shitting to preserve the
alleged good name of the celtic supporters when it comes to racism.
I personally didn't hear it, but absence of proof is not proof of absence.

I don't know. Are these relatives of yours all second, third, fourth and
fifth generation Australians, Canadians, Americans and English and do these
relatives of yours fly the Scottish flag instead of the flags of their home
countries and do these relatives of yours prefer to see Scotland beat those
countries when they pay against each other? If that is the case they must
piss off their fellow countrymen no end with their disloyalty but I
certainly wouldn't want to see them repatriated, the last thing Scotland
needs is an influx of wanabee arseholes.

I appear to have made an error. The game which I thought was still on my Sky
Plus recording device, does not appear to be there any more.

If I *did* still have it, it would be on youtube or similar by now.
You claim to have the game recorded, yet won't upload it to clarify what was
chanted.

Plus recording device, does not appear to be there any more.

If I *did* still have it, it would be on youtube or similar by now.
You claim to have the game recorded, yet won't upload it to clarify what was
chanted.
Something to hide Bri?

America doesn't seem to have a problem with the notion of scots-american,
irish-american, italian-american. The racists in america might but you get
arseholes like that in this country too. Try forging a life for yourself
rather than living off your hate of others. You'll get more out of it.

Can you make up your mind? You don't want wannabees, then you do.

No. VM server has closed so tried it on Google groups but wasn't sure it
posted. VM later gave details of new server so posted there not knowing it
had worked previously. If my mistake has caused you any undue concern I can
only apologize.
I take it you are going to reply to biz with the same question.

I've just proved you are a liar and you have the cheek to ask if I have
something to hide. You made the accusation you prove it's true.

I think you will find he did.

Or biz listened again and realised he made a mistake and is now
back tracking like feck cause he's made an accusation he can't back up. I
think you will also find that absence of proof means you haven't got a leg
to stand on.

*sigh* That old chestnut eh?
I've quite clearly stated in plain English that I no longer have the
recording.

YOU on the other hand claim to have evidence that refutes my claims, however
you will not bring it forth.

I put it to you that its because you've had a wee listen and thought
"blimey, the cunts right enough!".

If I was sitting on evidence that cleared my team's name from detractors'
"lies" I'd offer it up into the public domain to show them up as the liars
they were ... oh but you *can't* can you?

Why should he? It's plain to see I deliberately repeated my reply to you to
highlight the fact that you had goofed and multi-posted.

Petty? Yes!

I listened twice on the night to make sure. I'm still convinced of what I
