OT: eBay/Paypal
I sold an iPod last week on eBay. Guy paid Paypal, and I sent it 1st class
standard on Tuesday at lunch time.

He's not received it yet and raised a dispute with Paypal. Hence, the money
is now on hold.

I have a receipt from the Post Office, nothing more, since he never paid for
Recorded/Special, and it clearly stated on the listing "First Class standard
Royal Mail". He never e-mailed or asked for it be sent any special way.

The PO said it may just be the time of year and that his package may be
slightly late, but I've got a bad feeling about this cunt and the fuss he's
going to make.

Now I know I can't prove I posted it to his address, as the receipt just
gives date, time, method and amount. But I'm hoping that because he never
paid nor asked for (nor was offered) anything other than 1st class standard,
I'm in the right here?

The receipt does have a "Session Prefix" number, and from a quick Google
search there ARE people quoting such a number in disputes.

Anyone more knowledgeable on these things? I can't afford to lose £130, not
at this time of year.

Surely if Royal Mail have lost it it's not my fault?

If you didn't pay for insurance then you are stuffed.

First rule of selling on Ebay, always send goods by recorded or
registered post.

I would also check the buyers/sellers feedback. I wouldn't do
dealings with anyone under 97% possitve feedback

Sorry to say this but im afraid you would appear to be fucked, made same
mistake myself a few years ago sold a mobile phone and sent it 1st class. A
week later a paypal dispute was opened due to goods not being recieved found
in the buyers favour coz that reciept isnt enough for proof of postage or
value of goods. I made a claim against post office and was given 37pds
compensation which like yourself put me down about 130 pds. Keep an eye on
the seller though coz fortunately the buyer was a fuckin zoomer and listed
my phone with my photo for sale a week later a quick call to Hertfordshire
police and i got my phone back and sold it on again but since then ive
always used recorded. I think paypal will always find in buyers favour if he
raises a dispute about goods not recieved if there is no proof of postage.
Hopefully its just held up in post .

I sold a perfectly working motherboard to a guy who filed a claim saying it
was broken, he won and got the refund, but he never sent the board back, I
complained to paypal who said he won the dispute???
So I kept on phoning, emailing and generally harrassing them and they said he
had to send the board back, he did and it worked so I complained to paypal
again but they would not make him pay for it and i had to sell it again, so
many wankers out there taking the piss.

Marco, you need to protect yourself, I used to sell on ebay & send expensive
sets of bagpipes all over the world, but not one set ever left my hands
without being insured for their full value & I always made it clear in the
auction details that the buyer had to bear this cost.

Good luck & I hope the parcel arrives at it's destination soon.

Got to be honest with you Mark, you have nobody to blame but yourself in
this case. I wouldn't dream of sending anything of value by standard mail.

Sadly i think it will go in the buyers favour.Proof of postage really doesn
mean anything more than you went to the post office.Real proof is a
signature and without that he can deny all he likes and you cant prove
anything otherwise. But why the hell send something worth £130 by standard
post, thats crazy mate!!! Anything over £15 i automatically send
recorded.Dont give the buyer any other choice in postage. Cannie trust the
royal mail these days with a letter let alone £130 worth of goods, looks like
its going to end up being a horrible lesson in how to use the right mail
services :-(

I screwed myself up when my mate told me he had 20 Liverpool v West Ham
FA Cup programs to get rid of. I already had one while he went to get
the rest I scanned it and put it up. They sold like hot cakes due to
the price but the only problem was my mate only had ten.

I reimbursed those who paid up front but I was left with negative
comments which took me from 100% down to 96.6 or thereabouts.

Live and learn say I and never put gear up for sale until you have it
in your hands. I tried to bullshit this one guy that my store room had
been burned down by arsonists, and the bastard included that in the
negative comment.

Aye for sure but despite this she was still selling and buying on ebay for
months and even i gave her a mega neg folk were still buying and selling
with her...........just shows sometimes folk dont read feedback . I emailed
ebay the details of crime report etc and still they did f**k all about her.
So when it goes tits up basically ebay dont want to know , i wouldnt rely on
them at all for any help in a dispute.

She should have been banned. It's unacceptable that ebay let her continue to
trade after she was caught committing fraud.

I agree. Unbelievable that eBay took no action.
