If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it
considered a hostage situation?

Re: WC Qualifiers Draw Seeding Pots
Good Draw - Croatia
                      Switzerland
                      Moldova
                      Lichtenstein
                      Andorra

Bad Draw - Italy
                     Ukraine
                     Bosnia
                     Kazakhstan
                     Azerbaijan

To be brutally honest I can see us qualifying from either group with no
bother

Thoughts ?

A nice group would be:
Greece
Scotland
Slovakia
Moldova
Lichtenstein
Andorra

Just to show the other extreme, a nightmare group would be:
Italy
Scotland
Denmark
Belgium
Austria
Malta

After watching Croatia last night, I think we should avoid them, they are
quality. Swap Greece and Slovakia for Croatia and Switzerland and I think
that is about as good as it could get.

I think we can get much worse than this. My bad group would be: Italy,
Scotland, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Malta.

Belgium as 4th seeds and Austria as 5th seeds are the obvious ones you want
to avoid!

> To be brutally honest I can see us qualifying from either group with no

It is not as simple as you might think. Only the top team goes through
automatically! There are eight groups of six teams and one group of five
teams. The nine group winners will qualify automatically for the 2010 finals
with the eight best runners-up going into two-legged play-offs for the
remaining four places.

In a play off you could end up facing someone as good as the Netherlands as
we know.

IMO the nightmare pot 1 team for us is France. If we get them, boy will
they want revenge

Fair dues, I never realised that. However, I just had a look at the other
groups and the records of all the top seeds, and you have to admit that
Greece had the easiest group. Going on the qualifiers just completed, the
top seeds you might want are France (26pts), Germany (27), Netherlands (26),
Portugal (27). All of these teams qualified in 2nd place.

I don't want France again, we've beaten them twice and it might be asking a
bit much for a third victory.

Something I would like to see is a bit more loyalty to the Scotland job. If
you compare us with England, I can't remember an England manager leaving to
take a top club job. McLaren had to be sacked to get rid of him. McLeish
should at least stay until the end of the World Cup campaign, despite what
offers come his way. Agree/disagree?

Agreed. We are still woefully short of quality in the squad.

Agree, but I can understand why a relatively young manager might not want to
hang about till September for his next competitive game

we really need to tie him down.. there just isnt any other acceptable
managers out there who WOULD take the job (unless we are becoming a nicer
prospect to manage to higher profile managers) but I jus cant see
Capello(sp) saying he'd jump at the chance to manage us.... and (no
offence) but id hate to see someone like Jim Jeffries get the job

TBH I really enjoyed last night's game. I honestly wasn't that desperate for
England to get pumped. But the way Croatia played, their attacking style,
ease on the ball and wonderful goals, you couldn't but wish them well. I'm
glad Mark Lawrenson occassionally tried to emphasize Croatia's qualitities.
