Sure, that's a fact - although if the season had been two 
games longer you may not have held out :-)

But suggesting that if you improve this year you will still be 
better than us is nothing more than wishful thinking.  
Firstly, of course, you have to improve.  Secondly, you have 
to assume that your improvements will have a greater absolute 
impact on your squad's performance than ours will - i.e., we 
might improve more than you. You may continue to underperform 
and we might just overperform.  It's all conjecture, not fact, 
and it's very twisted logic.

As I've said to you before, I come from a northeast family 
with evenly divided loyalties.  Nothing would please me more 
than seeing Sunderland and the Mags in the top six year after 
year.  I've been waiting for that confluence of events for 
forty years and I expect to see it within my lifetime - now 
that's blind faith!
