The Derby game tactics
what gets me is that everyone is saying Big Sam is a tactically a good
manager, he spots things and makes changes.
But at Derby he did nothing.... I heard the team before I got in from
work and I can not believe Sam stayed with 4,4,2. The team was so lop
sided, milner was covering the left and right wing.
All Sam had to do was change the formation to 3,5,2 and we would have
been more balanced.
The back 3 would be
Taylor Roazehnal Cacapa
The 5 midfield players
Milner Butt Geremi N'Zogbia
Smith
Striker
Owen Ameobi
Milner and N'zogbia could have covered the back 3 making 5,3,2. I know
some fans will never be pleased changing from a 4,4,2. But we have
played it for years or versions of it and what has it got us?
We have to adopt many different formation nowadays if we want to get
anywhere in this league

What do you see in Amoebi?
Also, I would play Beye in preference to Butt.

I'm just going on what the team started with on the night. I agree

beye isn't a midfielder though, and never has been. Faye can and has
played the defensive midfielder role, but beye is primarily a centre
half/right back.

Re: The Derby game tactics
Beye is a defender, but I would rather keep Taylor at the back and push Beye up like Sam did with
Ivan Campo at Bolton.
When he came on at Derby, I noted he is able to make some runs on the wing (although he did not run
that far) and make crosses. The potential is there.

well thats because he's a fullback.
taylor isn't.
stick beye in a holding midfield role and he won't make those runs.
it's the job of a fullback to get forward and support the winger, beye
has had years of practice doing this.
swapping him for butt would achieve nothing, as it's not his position,
and never has been.
there's a difference between making a central defender a defensive
midfielder, and making a full back a defensive midfielder.
