Dont Write Everton Off
As a club we are undoubtedly in a stronger position than we have been for
many years. Moyesy has slowly replaced an old creaking squad with young,
ambitous world class players. Every year he has added 2-3 rough diamonds and
I personally feel that this squad can establish us in a bracket with chelsea
and Sir's team, challenging the so called top four.
Even this summer when i held many doubt re his transfer dealings things
could turn out v well. he has shipped out the deadwood wright, pistone,
naysmith and potentially beattie. If all goes to plan and lets hope it does
though nothing is certain we could add bainesy, pienaary, vogely, jagielky
and smithy. Personally i look around at other clubs business and cant stop
laughing, and feel that IF these come off then we will have a squad that
will be dominating europe very soon.
All good players who with the exceptoion of vogely are world class, young
and hungry. Things are looking up
and with the above signings on board I for one would be bloody excited.
Ps anyone who says they dont want smithy check out the clips on you tube.
Never have i seen a player that embodies everton more than smithy. his
workrate is phenomenal and his passion unquestionable, smithy remnds me of a
young raw Eto or Van Neestelroy and he plays with the passion we all would
if we were out there. On top of that the lad has undoubted quality.
Please Sir ...Can we have him?

It's funny how there are now so many teams that are going to
"challenge" for the top 4 next year - Spurs, Newcastle, Everton. I
guess some people are going to end up being very disappointed.

If Everton finished fourth, no-one would be more disappointed than
Slaphead the kopite troll.

LOL! It'll be the same top 4 as always, people are just hoping for a
surprise package to liven things up. If an English team wins the CL as
Liverpool should have done last season then only the top 3 will enter the CL
and the 4th placed team goes into the UEFA Cup. There is a max of 4 teams
from any one country apart from that exceptional year when Liverpool won and
Everton came 4th which forced the rule change.
Wouldn't it be funny if Newcastle came 4th and Chelsea won the CL :)

The only scenario that even seems mildly plausible is Arsenal dropping
out of the top 4 and Spurs sneaking in. But Arsenal making way for
either Newcastle or Everton is just fantasy-land stuff.

really
http://www.soccerbase.com/league2.sd?competitionid=1
spurs needed 8-9 points and everton 10-11 points to close up on the 3rd/4th
placed teams last season who both (LFC&AFC) amassed 68 points, the final
placing of 3rd going to Liverpool on GD, hopefully that link makes all this
clear.
It's not such an outside bet as many think albeit the bookies will certainly
offer short odds on the top 4 being comprised of anything but the same 4
teams as 06/07 season.
NUFC?
seems a big ask to improve by the best part of 30 points to break into the
top 4, unless of course in general (regarding the european - Uefa and CL -
places ) the points are more shared than taken.

Followed your link and selected last season. Brazil and Chile in the
premiership? WTF?

worked again "properly" here however.

So you honestly think that Everton could improve by 10-11 points to
get 4th without Arsenal/Liverpool improving on their rather below-par
68 pts? Unless of course you think that 68 pts is the absolute maximum
Liverpool/Arsenal can achieve. Let's say that Arsenal improve and get
75 pts next season and finish 4th - that means Everton will have to
improve by 18 pts in the space of one season. It's fantasy land stuff
as I said.

Exactly. Which is why NUFC won't break into the top next year.

there's a chance, of course, a small chance.
no more no less.
Unless of course you think that 68 pts is the absolute maximum

clearly not, however both teams are in fairly transitional states with
wenger relying on youth and benitez relying on new "premiership untested"
talent.

sure. there's a tacit acknowledgment on my part, i agree.
Fantasy land?
seems a bit harsh but the odds are certainly high, there's some chance that
either Liverpool or Arsenal or both will suffer the same plight as last
season so Spurs or Everton could well push for finishing 4th if they are
lucky, consistent and probably (certainly in evertons case) drop out of
european competition early on.

sure but that's not to say they won't make a leap in terms of improvement
under allardyce however I also believe that it's as likely to get worse (or
stagnate) for them.
