Cash not flowing as expected
Well, Ashley was due to take full control today, the 17th, and no word of
that yet. But more importantly there seems to be no cash being floated
about either. Given the fact that we have spent a net 2m quid on
transfers so far and the season ticket sales alone would be around the 20m
quid mark, then the added income from advertising and then the extra
ticket sales during the season, and the 30m from sky there seems to be a
slight discrepency there. I understand that Ashley will be wanting to
wait till he has full control in writing but surely he has enough shares
now to warrant making some funds available. It must even be frustrating
Big Sam to be commenting the way he has been about losing out on targets
etc.... Although it may not be all that bad waiting for the silly money
transfers to all die downa dn then buy for a bit less, save the cash till
January till we will hopefully be in a positive position and then splash
the csh then with the lure of a possibl europe spot and snatch some
Champions league dropouts then???

the deadline was the 18th, btw, not the 17th.
i'm sure we'll spend money, but ashley isn't gonna want to do that
until he's got a good idea of what state the club is in behind the
scenes and whats gone on in the past.
i'm sure there's money there, but it's not like we're gonna go out and
spend money for the sake of it, sam knows that and you get the
impression the new board do too.
a couple more defenders in and i think we'll be in for a good season.

It is a nice refreshing change to see the manager and the board/owner
beign responsible but the big question is if the money is there for Sam to
spend or if he is being told none is available yet and the money is being
used to pay off a bit of the take-over??? Don't mind if it is to be
honest, at least Sam is addressing the problem of the defense and the team
certainly seemed to gel a bit better last night by all accounts. Good to
see Shola in amongst the goals as well. Got high hopes for the
Viduka-Owen partnership but is nice to knwo that Shola can fill in for
Marko if we need him.

good to see sam actually having a look at the young lads as well (not
that he'll have had much choice last night, as a few players are still
not ready or are away)
sounds like troisi had a good game, he's looked good when i've seen
him for the reserves.
i'm sure we'll get the players we need, it just takes time.
as allardyce said himself, it's been a topsy-turvy time at the club
the past two months, it's a wonder we've signed anyone at all really.
once the new board finds their feet (cos you have to remember, none of
them have a football background, so are in effect learning as they go
along) i'm pretty certain we'll see the players coming in.
i mean look at liverpool. they were moaning that they weren't signing
any players, then they went and spent close to 50million in a week.
plenty of time yet.
