Deco?
well, according to nufc.com he's been offered to us by Barca and is
due for a medical later this week.

quality player, but maybe a bit lightweight for the prem?

a susprising signing, if it goes through anyway, but he certainly
would add some attacking flair to a midfield that sadly lacked it last
year.

also reports we've lodged a 5million quid bid for wayne bridge and are
snifing around heinze from man utd.

again, 2 good signings if they go through and certainly a step up in
terms of who we were linked with last year with roeder.

dunno what you guys think, but if we got those 3 in, i'd be pretty
bloody chuffed.

Re: Deco?
Deco has been known to be capable of starting a riot in a room when he is on his own - and that puts
Bellers in the shade!
We have to ask why Barca wants to rid of him - if he is no longer of use to them, why should NUFC
accept their cast-off?
I don't like the smell of that.

NUFC should go for Wayne Bridge (although I suspect that he can be injury-prone) rather than Heinze
(another injury-prone player I suspect!) on account that Wayne is younger and the club can get more
out of him.

should gel well with barton then....

because let's face it, even barca's cast-offs are better than anything
we have right now, pretty much. it's not like we're signing man city's
cast o.....ah fuck, nevermind ;)

bridge is a decent player, but as you say he does appear to be a bit
injury prone. still, a one legged donkey would be better than
babayaro.

Re: Deco?
Since NUFC has already got Barton, he's 24 and has a good number of years ahead of him, I think we
should ignore Deco. I agree we should go for Bridge and get shot of Babayaro (and Carr).

But then, Sam's the manager and we all can only watch who he buys and sells and also watch the team
that he builds play...

+Some good players who despite who they are cast off from would improve on
what we currnetly have, Roeder just seemed to give up if a player even
suggested he wasn't interested but Big Sam seems to chase players down if
its someone he really wants, an ability to sell the club. I think
roeder's latest comments though have put shame over his disposition and
can't help think he is seeing Ashley taking over and wishes he had some
more cash to spend....but lets face it 10m on Martins and 5m on Duff isn't
scrimping is it? And Sam has actually just about broken even so far and
has signed 4 quality players. never mind - all we can do is watch and
hope :)

remember saying the same about Javier Mascherano being lightweight?
It was West Ham's mistake not to use him properly and now he is one of
the1st on Rafa's teamsheet. If the man has the right skills and has a
footballing brain then i dont see how he cant cope here.

Deco is a different player to Mascherano though, he is a cheatin diver
but he is top class with good vision and most importantly can read the
game, he can use his diving antics to the team's advantage (when we
under pressure he can take the sting out of the game etc.)

i heard Arse are about to offered 14m for Martins,i think he will go
and that will open up a place for someone like Deco.
Heinze will not come to us, same with Bridge. Heinze will go to spain
or italy- if clubs like Barca and Madrid come for him.

Yeah I can't see Heinze coming when he can have his pick of clubs who are
in the Champions League....although the same could be said for Deco. I
think we are looking likely to get hold of Habib Beye from Marseille for
our LB slot.

Yeah it looks like martins will go, but i'm not really that disappointed.
We will make a profit and I think he is over-rated. he is a great striker
of the ball when it sits nicely for him but that is about all he has in
his locker. He has pace yeah but doesn't seem to know how to make the
right runs to get the most out of the pace.

On Deco not fitting in the premiership....a lot of players Sam had at
Bolton may not have been picked to be great in the premiership but the
trick to being a good manager is knowing how to play a certain player, not
having a player and expecting him to change his game to play YOUR
way.....and maybe theres an outside chance that luque will find a new
lease of life too and if Big Sam can get him sorted out then we have a
player there who will be like a new signing...We shall see!

you're right on martins, he is a bit over-rated. He scored most of his
goals against lower positioned teams in the league last year. The only
game that i can think of right now that he really played to his
potential was the one away to Spurs.

I never said Deco wont fit in, its a matter of IF he would want t o
come to us knowing there is no Europeam football for at least a year.
think Deco would fit in nicely as he's quality and quality players
will always adapt to whatever league they're in. It has a lot to do
with the manager (as you said) but what Sam did with the players he
got at Bolton was a lot to do with their personal ability as well as
Sam's influence.

Luque i dont wanna comment on as i've said a lot in the past and
people here dont agree with me, lets hope Sam gets the best out of the
guy.
