I watched him in the reserves and when he played for England youth teams
and he always looked a decent player who knew how to finish. His major
problem in his time at newcastle was that he was constantly compared to
Shearer and was not really quick enough or strong enough to play int he
positions he was asked to play. Not to mention he was never given a run
int he side to establish himself. I think he will do a good job for the
Mackams, and while not an international class super-star which is what
everyone was wanting him to be at the toon, he is more than capable of
scoring a few goals if he gets the service - just don't expect him to
create loads of chances himself, he is a poacher not a playmaker!
