Spot on.

In my opinion, the voice of reason and realism.

Re: Spot on (iMO)...
More wank from the halfwit Bailey.
It's all about an owner with a three year plan deciding to sack the
manager because the club didn't reach year two's target at the end of
the first year, after he was probably swanning around boasting about how
good HIS team is.
I said it before, he's greedy if he thinks the squad inherited from
Pearce could be transformed with one summer's rushed purchases. Okay i
can hear you saying about Bianchi and Caicedo, but all managers have
transfer "skeletons in the closet".
He says that Elano was played out of position so often. Eh? What team's
he been watching this season? Ireland and Vassell were played out of
position. Does he mean when Elano filled in at right-back? He's making
it up, he works for the MUEN, what do you expect.

Re: Spot on (iMO)...
I know that Bailey has a 'closet rag' reputation, but I actually thought
this was a balanced article. He points out both the good sides and the bad
sides of the Sven year.

Your point about sacking Sven for not reaching his year 2 targets is made
up. Nobody knows why Fwank wants to sack him, although the rumour that keeps
popping up is that Fwank wants to dabble in player purchases and team
selection. On this point, it is pretty self-evident that Fwank is well out
of order and Sven is absolutely correct in refusing to allow interference.

As regards Sven's purchases, his success rate is average, when perhaps we
could have expected better than average. Yes, he only had 4 weeks to
prepare, but we were lead to believe that he'd spent his post-England days
building up his little black book. And if Bianchi really is on £60k per
week, then that is just plain mad. Not just because his age and promising
but inconsistent Serie A form didn't warrant it, but also because it would
inevitably fuel higher wage demands from other players.

And you're right to point out that Ireland and Vassell were played out of
position /as well as/ Elano. But doesn't this just reinforce Bailey's point?
And the reason that Ireland and Vassell were played out of position is that,
despite Sven's MANY purchases, not a single right winger was purchased,
leaving the team without one.

I still rate Sven and have not forgotten some of the fabulous football we
have seen this season and of course the convincing victory over the rags at
the swamp. But I think the 8-1 has just tipped me out of the Sven camp. I
don't mind losing, but I do mind being fucking humiliated.

I'm beginning to think that our club is too soft, too nice. Nice players,
nice fans, genuinely nice manager. I think perhaps we would get greater
benefit from a hard-nosed bastard manager. A 'my way or the highway' and an
'I HATE losing' type of manager. Being nice with these lazy tosser
millionaires just doesn't seem to work.
