Miller gone for good.
Such a shame we have yet again let go somebody as talented as Ishmael
Miller. When we are crying out for good strikers we have let go a
young striker who has proven himself at Championship level and could
well have done a good job for us at Premiership level. Now we will
never know.

Strong, Athletic, fast, good in the air, what else do you want from
a centre-forward. Playing alongside an established striker to learn
and polish his already reasonably impressive goal tally who knows what
he could have acheived if he had been given a chance in his preferred
position. Instead we played Samras or Corradi last season or our
under-acheiving non prolific strike force of this season.

I hate seeing good young talent wasted in the search for overseas
talent who may, or may not be better than what we already have.

I could agree more. Really frustrating, and all for a poxy £1.5m that I
assume we don't need. He was never given a proper chance at City, few things
can be more difficult for a young footballer than moving up from the
reserves to being played out of position in the first team. Look what crap
wingers Vassell and Ireland are, even experienced players struggle. Possibly
a victim of the ridiculous striker glut we have at the moment, but a short
sighted decision nonetheless. A bought in player never gels like an academy
player.

Re: Miller gone for good.
I feel sorry for the lad that he wasn't given a fair go last season but
i'm also confident that Sven has made a fair assessment of his abilities
with regard to the level of ability that City need now.

Re: Miller gone for good.
This sort of comment happens a lot when a young player is released, in fact
I cant remember the last time one of our 'up and coming players' actually
made the grade Premiership wise after we released them. Etuthu, Michael
Brown Willo Flood the young striker who went to Sunderland (whos name
escapes for the moment) to name but a few.

And Gary Mason who went to Dunfermline (I think).

Bradley Wright-Phillips - is he still getting a game at Soton?

Who was the other midfielder/winger who went to Norwich and seems to have
sunk without trace?

It does happen a lot but I watched Miller play in a number of games and
he has the talent to progress and is certainly worth 1.5mill of
anybody's money. I look at what he could offer up front compared with
what we have and in this instance I really think we have missed a trick
with this lad.
