Jusy what I feared - see previous post.

I don't believe we have the ability/creativity to fight and scrap in the
midfield

Re: FFS
I'm not hearing that.
If Vassell was a finisher we'd be well in front, as it is it sounds like
Dunnie's had a "Bramble" moment and we're behind from an og.
And as i type Sturridge has just equalised. :-)

We definitely miss Johnson.

Re: FFS
FWIW I thought we were hugely improved yesterday. There was lots of desire
and effort, both missing at SU. Derby's goal was a fluke, the shot was
heading for the corner flag until it got that deflection. I also thought
that Derby were really up for it, no doubt buoyed on by our dismal away
record, so that didn't make things easier. Thought Sven's team selection was
a brave one, it shows he's losing patience with poor performers, and I for
one am happier to see 4-4-2. I didn't think we missed Hamann, or that role,
last night. I've consistently been a fan of Vassell, but am starting to have
my doubts now. Chances were created, but they were not translated into
shots, him and Ireland fluffed most of them. Sturridge was anonymous until
he scored, early days there still, same for Etuhu really. One downer was
just a single shot on target against a team with the worst defence in the
division, lord knows how we'll cope against Arsenal and the rags. Clenched
buttock and thick skin times coming up, me thinks.

Pretty much agree with all that. My opinion of Vassell has been getting
steadily lower. He's a great worker, but lacking in a key skill required for
strikers - finishing. Even when he gets in the right place at the right time
he manages to miss more than he scores. And Sven's given him plenty of pitch
time. The Arsenal game would be a good one to win. Cross everything you've
got 2 of.

I would say he's turning into the new Dickov but Bobbit did get the
occasional goal didn't he. Strikers are all about confidence tho. And the
most confident at the minute has to be Sturridge.

Reckon we'll use the same tactics on Sat as we did against Scum and
Liverpool - i.e. play like we're away and look for breaks. Don't think
it'll work against Arsenal tho. We could be in for a serious bashing and
then the initial shine of Sven will truly be gone in the eyes of the crowd
and they'll start getting on the players back and the whole thing will
spiral into mid-table obscurity yet again. Not that I'm a pessimist or
anything...
