The AUS~SWISS Championships
So what do you reckon to Hollands chances Woody? On paper they look
pretty strong especially in attack.

I was think of, "was" being the operative word, putting just a couple
of quid on Romania. They're in the group of death though with Italy,
France and Holland in the same group. I'd have to hope two out of
these big three slip up, which is a big ask. If they could manage to
get out of this group then I'd fancy them as dark horses. Could still
be worth a £2 bet on betfair at 54/1 maybe even 59/1. Otherwise I am
just thinking Holland or Germany between those two is maybe were you
should stick your money if you fancy a bet. I think Holland look good
value but Germany will get a lot of support in Austria and
Switzerland.

These Championships have been known to throw the unexpected team into
the mix, with Greece winning it last time and we had Denmark in 1992,
who I don't think even qualified for the tournament. Perhaps we wont
have another surprise win for a few more tournaments though.

What do you think?

Yep. They didn't qualify but replaced Yugoslavia as it was just when
all the trouble over there was kicking off so they were excluded from
the tournament.

Holland are a pile of poo, I don't think they'll get through to the
knock-out stage. My money's on Croatia.

You should have more faith in you beloved little watery bit of the EU
;) They have been shite in the past, not lived up to the hype, but I'm
glad I put a few bob on them now. Got em at 15/1. 2-0 up against the
i-Ties Good choice I think. Looking like they're gonna add a third as
well.

I'll have to bookmark that quote above in case they win it now ;)

A good performance last night against a woeful Italian team. Are Holland
that good or did the Italian's make them look good? We'll see in the
next couple of matches. It's a mad house here in our street right now
that's for sure. :0)

Anyway if they do advance in the competition and play well I'll admit I
was wrong about them, but not on the basis of one match, I still think
they're not that good nut I won't mind if they prove me wrong; 15-1 are
brilliant odds sniffer, I bet they've gome down a bit after yesterday's
performance.

Street parties all across Ireland tonight as well mate, and they're
not even in it and don't want to be ;)

Just hoping they beat the French tonight. They should do because
they're playing in the Jerry part of Switzerland, so when they're
hearing those German voices they should capitulate and surrender ;)

What about on the basis of two matches against the world cup finalists
putting a shit load of goals past both them? ;)

They're bloody incredible. Looking good.

France and Italy aren't playing well but I must admit Oranje is on a
roll. They've had a bit of luck though at crucial stages of both
matches. Still, 3-0 and 4-1 are pretty impressive results, the people
over here are ecstatic. I've put up some photos of our street on
Facebook if you're interested, just search for Graham Wood in Rotterdan
and you'll find them'. :0)

Van Basten has been working on his system for about 4 years, in all that
time it's never worked and now, just when it matters, it's all clicked
together. The most impressive thing is that he's got rid of the ego
trippers and put in players who'll work for each other, this has created
a great team spirit, that's a rare achievement for a Dutch coach. The
last one who managed that feat was Rinus Michels when they won the Euros
back in 88.
