Some things never changes
I'm getting near to being entitled to my pension, the world moves on,
changes, improvements progress.... or so you would think. Reading about
the farcical situation surrounding the allocation of tickets for the
play off final: fans queuing all night, no facilities, a mass scramble
around the ticket office when it opened, disillusoned fans drifting off
having queued for hours without getting a ticket, well it took me back
to my days as a fanatical Leeds fan. April 1970 to be exact. I'd
attented most of the matches that season, home and away, every round of
the FA cup, all three semi final matches. I queued all night from six in
the evening till 10 the next morning to get a ticket to Wembley, all to
no avail. I was even on News at Ten on tv seen clambering over a crush
barrier, forlorn, ticketless and distraught, no Wembley final for me
then despite having travelled the length and breadth of Britain in fog,
rain and high winds to support my team. I watched the 2-2 draw against
Chelsea on tv. Nearly 40 years later fans are still having to put up
with the same shit. Power to your elbows lads and lasses! However, will
we ever get people running the club worthy of the wonderful fans that
support the club? We can but live and hope! I bet there are thousands of
corporate leeches at Wembley on Sunday, not watching the match but
stuffing themselves on the fare provided, waffling away, doing deals.

Re: Some things never changes
Good post Woody,
Been a Man City fan since 1970, and gave up my
season ticket 3 years ago for the very reasons you state, (and the fact that
it was the best part of £500 a season) We, the fans are treated like shite
no matter which club we support, Its not just Leeds, My boss has just
renewed his season ticket at old t******d.... £819 a season for a bog
standard seat for 19 league games, with the stipulation that he HAS to pay
extra for ALL the cup games (even if he does'nt attend) Thing is, if he
does'nt renew it, some other dickhead will willingly buy it. In other words
They've got him by the bollocks.

Re: Some things never changes
Yes, The condition is that when he buys his season ticket he HAS to purchase
a ticket for cup games played at old t******d even if he does'nt go.

There were certainly plenty of cockney leeches selling £30 tickets for
£200... Ended up having to watch it in a curry house near the stadium
with about 20 other people including one fella who'd payed £400 for
his two kids to go in but couldn't get in himself.
Seeing those scabs counting out big bundles of cash at an adjacent
table whilst the telly panned around the thousands of empty seats at
the stadium was not good...
