Not much chance of him resting in peace with all the wankers flocking to
his graveside.

I buried my old man last Friday and went up the graveside today for the
first time since TB's funeral. My old man is in the plot right next to TB
and all his flowers and wreaths have been tossed aside so the collective
horde could get a better gawp at TB's grave. No respect at all. Was
watching people drive up alongside the grave and just sit in their cars
then drive off. No respect for me or my ma trying to repair the damage
that's been done to our own father grave.

So if your thinking of visiting Tommy's grave, try and have a wee bit of
respect for my old man beside him. He might not have played for Celtic but
in our eyes he was still a legend.

Sme, I am very sorry for your loss. Sincere condolences mate, must be really
tough dealing with these insensitive tossers at a time like this :-(

Condolensces to you and your mother. That's very disappointing to think that
the crowds have been insensitive to other morners and the memory of their
loved ones. No disrespect to TB but sometimes these things become
Diana-esque. And I've been to the memorial at Celtic Park so I've been,
although indirectly, part of this too. I think you should phone Peter
Lawwell or the Council and they should hopefully sort something out. Maybe a
discrete barrier at the graveside or a sign at the enterence of the cemetry
asking people to show respect to other graves or something in the Celtic
View? Again my deepest sympathies on what must be a very tough week for you.

Thanks Zaid. I know you recently lost your parents so you'll have an idea
what its like. I was just back from the graveside so was a bit pissed
off. I realise the grave diggers have to move stuff to allow the families
in to their own gravesides but the way it appeared discarded was what
pissed me off.

TBF since i moved things back it doesn't appear to be disturbed again.
People have actually teken time to look at my da's grave (possibly seeing
the Tommy (his name) and being inquisitive).

On a side note, my uncle was up for the first time as he works offshore
and when he came back from the grave i overheard him saying Rod Stewart
had got one. I sat for half an hour thinking he meant a plot. My old man
would have been in his element lying between his two heros, Rod Stewart
and Tommy Burns. It was of course one of the floral celtic tops he was
talking about. :-)

Thanks Liam. I was thinking along the lines of a small fence (like the
wee boundary edge things) but didn't want it to look as though we minded
TB being beside our da. Since i placed the floral displays back it
doesn't appear to have been moved or disrupted so i think it was more to
do with the gravediggers moving them for Tommy Burns funeral than the
actual fans. After having time to think about it i overreacted. Who could
ask for a better neighbour than Tommy Burns. :-)

Hopefully the two Tommy's will be sitting up there thinking the same
thing.

No worries sme. Maybe TB is already watching out for his namesake. :¬)

If you have any more trouble with his mourners you could have an ASBO placed
on him, that would be a first. ;)

Seriously...sorry to hear about your Old Man.
