Celtic v Barcelona in London
Guys
A tim colleague of mine is wanting to find a pub in central London to watch
the game on 20th Feb.
I found a list online of "Celtic" pubs in the area and gave it to him.
However he wants to make sure the one he goes to isn't "dodgy" (i.e. IRA or
sectarian), given that a) he's not into all that shit and b) he's a fairly
high ranking MoD officer.
So anyone know of a decent Celtic/Scottish/Irish pub in central London
that'll definitely show the game? Arsenal are also on that night, so I'd
imagine the majority of pubs will show that (both games or on Sky Sports
multi-screen, so there must be 1 or 2 that'll show Celtic).

Good link for you to email onto him:
http://www.celticbars.com/BarsL.htm
He should be fine in most mainstream London bars regarding the old
political guff - just steer clear of the social clubs.
I understand the Marquis of Granby at Cambridge Circuis is a fairly
reliable shout also. He's best to call them, obviously, to check it's
not a wasted trip.

He could try Ryan's in Carter Lane, EC4. It's in the City, near St.
Paul's and they show a lot of the Celtic games. Again, he should
probably phone them to check.
If he doesn't need it to be Irish or Celtic, then it's guaranteed to
be on at The Sports Cafe near Piccadilly Circus.

Thanks - to be honest I think he'd prefer it *wasn't* celtic/irish.
Out of curiosity, why is it guaranteed to be on in that pub?

I'm guessing because its a Sports themed bar, showing ALL games that are on
at any given time.
I found one while in Torquay a few years ago, and it had EVERY Sky Sports
channel, plus all your eurosports, golf, basically anything to do with
sports were ALL shown simultaneously. Must have cost them a fortune in
rights paid to Sky, but the place was always HEAVING.

LOL! I wondered that myself.
The first Will was very pro-Scotland and Tony Blair. Then he became very
pro-IRA etc etc. So I am not sure if this is the same Will, it probably is.

I'd recommend the Twelve Pins beside Finsbury Park Tube station on the
Piccadilly Line...can't guarantee there are no former active members
of the Provisionals though... ;)

Remember that Will was also a split personality back then. As well as being
racist, bigoted, an apologist for terrorism, and of course a Walter Mitty
like fantasist who created the infamous Tsunami hoax, he could also
occasionally come out with quite lucid and relatively sensible stuff. The
fact that he hasn't indicated that he's a different Billy suggests that it
could indeed be the posh English kid from Cambridge.

Biz was exactly right. It is a huge place and shows absolutely
everything. I was in there for the last old firm game and the English
game was on at the same time - Liverpool I think - so it was all
scousers downstairs and Glaswegians upstairs. That's likely to be
similar with the Arsenal game being on. One sure way to get a decent
view of the telly is to book a table for dinner. It's all buffalo
wings, nachos and burgers. If he does book a table, make sure they
know he's in for the Celtic game to get seated in the right area.
One other thing is that it will probably have a bunch of Barca
supporters in there as well so it is likely to be a good evening with
plenty of banter.

I'm here for the chat and discussion on topics that I enjoy. I'm not
really interested in acknowledging peoples bullying over years old posts
- It comes across quite thuggish. Feel free to fling personal insults
about, It doesn't bother me as I won't pay it much attention; I'll focus
on the chat from here on in, rather than the squabble.
I'll not be penning any retort to your wild and ultra imaginative
descriptions, as to do so would be to acknowledge them. I doubt that
even you believe much of the fictitious defamation that you offer; if
you're hoping for some sort of angry exchange, I'll have to let you down.
My last post on the subject.
Cheers for the warm welcome back - I'd been hoping for milk and cookies
though.

pff, you are without doubt the Chamion of all idiots from the Celtic
supporters side that has ever been on these newsgoups, you were a complete
lowlife and they cringed at your posts.
You boasted of your love for terrorism, knew nothing about politics, claimed
you ran a Celtic supporters bus but couldnt back it up, and generally acted
like a pubescent student twat.
I do hope you have changed your way of thinking......
