OT:Sky+
Been on digital ages now and fancied finally getting on sky+.Hear that i
could get a deal with sky for £49 if i threatened to cancel but that didnt
work and they wanted £99 plus £30 installation!!! So much for treating loyal
customers well (been with them 7 years, have multiroom and all progs).Did a
bit of searching and found some info out that might help others save a few
quid! Curry's are selling the sky+ box for £29 but you have to take it with
£30 install . Its a bit cheeky as they say they can only do it with new TV's
but i spoke to the manager and told him its all over the net that you can
just put it through without , he then said he thought you had to input proof
that a tv was purchased but said he would try anyway. They gave it a go and
low and behold £70 saved! But i believe offer ends on the 24th so be quick!
One thing that really helped me though was printing off the link below and
taking it with me....

Hope this helps save a few quid for a few folk!

Thanks Jb, may pick this up. Also, anyone know of where I can pick up a
cheap laptop this week?
Seen this one but slightly concerned there may be a reason they are selling
it for so little...

I was in Currys last week as I'm looking for a flat panel TV (torn between
plasma and LCD but that's another story). I took out that Sky+ offer that JB
quotes, there was no mention of having to buy a TV. They are probably
supposed to link them but I'd already said I was just on a reccy and had no
intention of getting a set that day. The lady told me the offer ends on the
31st but I'm not 100% on that. The Sky bloke is coming tomorrow. I didn't
realise that you needed an extra cable to your dish. I've just finished
redecorating the living room and I'd have installed it myself had I thought
about it . Now I have to remove a skirting to lay the new cable in. :(
Luckilly I've left draw wires in, so it's not too bad.

Yeah its all over those pyramid shaped cards with the offer on instore in
the usual smaller print at the bottom saying "When bought with any tv".Might
be right about the offer ending slightly later as i only got that info on
closing date from a forum online.Yep you need dual cables for sky+,however
if you dont want another hole being drilled you can get a cable from maplins
i believe that can be split at either end (not sure if that causes any drop
in pic) so get a few metres of that or just let the guys get on with it.Ill
try and find the name of the cable later.

Thanks. I had checked that out but it's a bit late for me now as the guy's
here tomorrow. It's not really a problem though as an extra cable will not
show when finished.

We got the SKY+ a weeks ago. £99 but was lets of with the £30 installation
fee. I was warned though if
I cancelled my SKY subscription at any time within the first 12 months then
I would have to pay for the remainder.
So I cancelled within 6 months then I would have to pay £9.99 for the other
6 months

Cheers JB.
Took the printout in today, and I think Currys are now wise to the fact that
folk now know about this.
Kinda went like this:

"I understand that you are doing a deal where I can get a sky+ box for £29
and £30 installation, and I don't have to buy anything to qualify for the
deal?"

"Yes sir, thats right. If you have a credit or debit card with you today, we
can set that up for you just now if you'd like to follow me."

No pushing for me to take anything else with it, simple bish bash bosh and
Boab's yer auntie's man!
He did ask me if I wanted extra cover for the box for £3.99 a month, and
asked if I wanted multiroom for another tenner a month, but a simple no was
enough, no pestering and no hassle.

Installation date is the 27th, so I'm well chuffed with that.

Cheers again. :-)

Great stuff Biz,glad you got it.From some of the forums talking about it
some people are having a hard time with the staff to get it,others like you
have no problem.I opted for the 27th too and they said sky would be in touch
but not heard anything yet.

Just noticed you have the same background on your myspace page as i have on
my phone, the misfits skull !! Been into them for years but seems theres alot
of 19 year olds in my area that believe they are a new band and never knew
of the original line up.Think many got into them via the cliff burton
metallica link (one hell of a bassist!).Have you seen the Danzig being
knocked out vid on tour?

Bloody hell, thats leaving it a bit late. The guy said sky would write or
email me to confirm but during this time of year i bet any letter would
arrive advising of the date after it has already been fitted!

We did get a letter stating that the engineer would ring to confirm date and
give a time. Just expected call a day or so before.

The one with the big security guy decking him? Lol aye it made me chortle,
lol
Been into them for years too, like Danzig and Samhain too. And yes the
amount of 'tweenies' running about with the T-shirts and handbags and shoes
and shit all with the Crimson Ghost logo is annoying ... As you get older
the music you love is supposed to fade away into obscurity so we can moan
about things not being the same as in 'our day' ... The kids are making it
'pop' now! bleh! lol

Thats the one! Think it was actually a guy in a band that was supporting
them having an argument about time slots or something.Bet they didnt do many
tour dates after!!! ;-)

I tried to get into the danzig and samhain stuff but just something not
right for me . I still like to give the teens a shock if i pull up at lights
and they look at me like a normal 30 something, then they hear earth AD
playing and cant work out how the two are combined!!! Actually caught some
of the more modern misfits stuff like dig up her bones a little while ago
and sounds way to mainstream now! A real shame!
