Rohit Sharma played 28 ODIs and Badrinath played just 3 ODIs.

Firstly, if you compare applies to apples, Badri averaged 12.25 in his first
three ODIs and Rohit averaged 4.5 in his first three ODIs.

Secondly Rohit was given a long enough rope in ODIs and Badri is still a 
newbie in ODIs.
