Grant Napier 152no - 58 balls
what an incredible innings!

record individual T20 score in England, second highest anywhere, world
record number of 6 in an innings - *16* - the last over swatted for
6,4,6,6,6,1!

Kirtley will be having nightmares tonight bowling that last over,
worst bowling figures in English T20.

The annoying thing is I was working less than a mile from the ground
this afternoon and I end up watching it on the TV!! =:-(

Essex only got 35 from the first 6 overs but then it just went
bananas! <G>

Seems like Essex are specialising in this with Ravi Bopara getting
201no in a 50 over game a couple of weeks ago.

Sounds like he thought that there was another over and he wanted to keep
the strike. :)

LOL!
The crazy thing is that he then went to open the bowling!! - the next
freddie??? <G>

James Foster had a good night as well, 48 of 20odd deliveries.

P.S. another record broken, biggest ever winning margin in T20...

-------------------------

I called in at Warsop Stebbings today (to buy a ball) - the maker of his
bat. It's only really a little shed in East Hanningfield , Essex. Despite
(Graham, not Grant, incidentally) holding the bat up proudly in front of the
camera it was apparently not a blatant marketing attempt, more a sign of
affection. I suggested that it must be a great advertising opportunity for
them but they were giving more credit to the player than their bat. How
quaint. I played cricket at school with his dad and he was a nice chap. Well
done, all.
