Wow!

First the police have no idea of where the majority of firearms come
from that used in crime. The 50% figure cited as being stolen from
lawfull owners is bogus and has been shown to be incorrect by studies
that show about 3% of guns used in crime can be traced to a theft from
a registered owner.

Yes legal guns are misused by their owners. After their owners have
been screened by the firearms licensing system on application for a
firearms license, and now apparently there is a daily screening of the
licensed owners databace.
Evidence that firearms owners licensing does not work all of the time,
if at all.

The report tells us there are 500,000 legal handguns in Canada.
There are less than 400,000 registered in the registry system.
Where are the other 100,000 handguns?

All those guns were stolen by criminals. Gun owners are a target for
criminals. Why are the police not protecting gun owners from criminals
that steal? Instead they blame the victim of a theft for the actions
of the criminal that stole the firearm. Not logical at all is it?

Then the cites of all the smuggled guns that were used in crime.
How would a gun ban or any controls stop these events?
Apparenty these guns can not be stopped at the border and criminals
get them freely.
Which part of Canadian law has failed to let this happen?
How can you blame gun owners in Canada for criminals that use smuggled
guns.

On the whole, gun owners in Canada are screened by the police before
they can get the paperwork to purchase a gun. Any one of dubious
character is stopped from legally obtaining firearms.
Criminals don't bother with compliance of the law, they steal a gun,
or they smuggle one into Canada.
Apparently criminals don't obey the gun laws. Go figure.
